Translator's foreword acknowledgments historical background and a biographical note in first volume. Boards and spine undamaged and unblemished. Internally unmarked. Clean as new copies of this first edition set. Rosove 108.A1. First complete translation of the leader's account of this major voyage. Dumont D'Urville was in the Antarctic at about the same time as James Clark Ross and Charles Wilkes. This set was originally published in Australia in 1987 in a very small edition then republished in Hawaii in 1988.
