With a few in text illustrations as well as several full page illustrated plates. A history of military action in the United States from the Revolutionary War and including actions in Africa the Tippecanoe War the War of 1812 the Black Hawk's War and the Seminole Wars. Unfortunately in POOR condition. MISSING two front endpapers with the illustrated half-title DETACHED and laid in. The binding and interior hinges are very shaky with cracking in several sections including at the front and rear cover hinges beginning to separate as well in those locales. Many of the signatures are beginning to come loose although all are presently intact albeit weakly. Heavy fading to the covers with scattered spotted discoloration minor spots of staining and minor to moderate soiling. Spine sunned. Minor rippling to the cloth on the rear cover. Some scuffing bumping and fraying along the extremities especially to the head and foot of the spine. Minor scattered soiling and foxing to the interior with a tear present to the lower corners of pages 192 and 193 resulting in minor loss of text. Dampstaining present to the half-title. Sabin 26024. A report from the Department of the Interior providing data on a geological survey providing many numbers on tables throughout. Of note is a large fold out map in the rear depicting the United States from the Atlantic to just west of Colorado and showing the railroad and canal lines used in the determination of elevations. FAIR condition. Map witth a 4 inch tear near where it attaches to the book. Area of faint dampstain present near the lower left corner with otherwise very minor foxing. The wraps have moderate to heavy soiling and fading as well as several small stains. Area of dampstain present on the rear wrap. Moderate to heavy wrinkling and creasing to the wraps mostly along the extremities. Small tear near the lower front spine. Heavy soiling to the first page with minor scattered soiling throughout.
