Bachman in 1937 to complete his term but served only until 1938 failing in his bid for election. Printed DS 4pp rectos only 8" X 10" n.p. 1936 December 12. Very good. Light even age toning; tiny staple hole at upper left corner of each not affecting text. "Excerpts from speech of Major George L. Berry Coordinator for Industrial Cooperation" a mimeographed press release intended "For Release / Morning Papers." In this NBC radio broadcast Berry addresses President Roosevelt's Council for Industrial Progress. A tremendous example from the height of his fame. unknown

Chicago: Privately printed 1943. Hardcover. 16mo. Black cloth with white paper front board label. 11pp uncut. Near fine. Edition limited to 496 numbered copies this #241. Beautifully printed and issued without dust jacket. Fleming has boldly signed the half-title page in black ink. This copy has a fine addition as well: Laid in is a custom-printed Christmas keepsake created by noted Civil War scholar Richard Harwell 1915-88 a 4-page self cover on heavy cream stock in original unmailed special envelope undated but likely 1981. Fine. Titled "Christmas Gift / 1943-1776" in red ink Harwell who was also a Margaret Mitchell scholar and owned one of the largest "Gone With the Wind" collections in the country tells a tale relevant to Fleming's "Ode." He begins "Among Margaret Mitchell's Christmas gifts in 1943 was a book by her friend Berry Fleming the distinguished novelist from Augusta. It was Fleming's 'Ode for the Night After Thanksgiving Day 1932.' Fleming's 'Ode' is a small book its brief text filling only eleven pages. It was published in 1943 in a strictly limited edition handsomely designed by Georgette Roux a patient of a good friend of both novelists Dr. Hervey Cleckley." Harwell then quotes briefly from Fleming's poem and from Mitchell's thank-you note written in verse and notes how he succeeded in getting Fleming to send him a spare copy of this book in 1976. Cleckley 1903-84 by the way was apparently also the book's unnamed publisher - and is best known as the psychiatrist and psychopathy researcher who authored the 1956 hit "The Three Faces of Eve." Harwell's keepsake is actually much scarcer than Fleming's book having been produced in a tiny quantity for distribution to friends and colleagues. A superb copy of this scarce title with an even scarcer add-on. Privately printed hardcover
