‎<p>Hand-drawing Chinese propaganda poster: "Holding highly the flags of Maoism Thought to eliminate leptospirosis thoroughly." 1971. 89cm x 62cm. All of the painting and red Chinese characters are hand-drawing only the below black Chinese characters were typed on a paper and then adhered to the painting. Have slight fold which probably can be recovered because the fold is formed by whole put together with others.</p><p>The soldier worker and peasant are holding a red books with title "Maoism Thought" . The three banners are captioned with "Ready for Battle Ready for Famine For People" "Long Live For the Victory of the hygienism Route of Chairman Mao’s Proletariat Revolution" and "Put the emphasis of the work of hygienism and Health into Rural Area" respectively. The two plates are captioned with "Must Demolish thoroughly the remaining toxin of the hygienism Route of Anti-revolutionary Revisionism" and "Must eliminate leptospirosis thoroughly " respectively.</p><p>At the bottom the adhered small paper was typed "printed by Revolutionary Committee of Epidemic Prevention of Yunnan Province printed in June 1971" so it is the original hand-drawing poster for printing in 1971 but do not know if its printed counterpart had been publised later because as far as I know I have not seen its printed counterpart.</p>‎

‎1889 ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT NOTEBOOK HANDWRITTEN BY A STUDENT OF RENOWNED CHEMIST CHARLES AVERY DOREMUS A PIONEER OF VICTORIAN ERA CHEMICAL AND TOXICOLOGICAL SCIENCE‎

‎COLLEGE OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK NYC NY. Good. 1889. On offer is a fascinating piece of American scientific history. The handwritten book is a rare and unique notebook from a Chemistry course taught by the renowned scientist and Professor Dr. Charles Avery Doremus in 1889. The book is approximately 150 pages of which all but one are filled with notes. Beginning in October and ending in December the course deals overwhelming with various elements of Chemistry composition reactions stoichiometry solutions etc. but also with a variety of scientific topics such as electricity astronomy radiation and others. The book contains a tremendous amount of information all given by Professor Doremus to the young author. The book also contains some small drawings scattered throughout the book usually of simple diagrams of chemistry lab equipment e.g. bunsen burner bell jars volumetric flasks etc. The student’s name appears to be written under the Professor Doremus’s name on the front cover. It is very faded but appears to be R. G. Hurlbut. This has not been verified however. The binding has some interior cracks but the binding is still holding well. The last few pages in the book were started on the opposite side of the book and are therefore upside down. The handwriting is occasionally sloppy but is overall quite legible and readable throughout. The book was bought at the “Harvard Co-operative Society” bookstore in Boston Massachusetts. Charles Avery Doremus was never known to have taught a course in Boston so it is more likely that the book was bought in Boston and brought down to the College of the City of New York where Doremus taught. This is an excellent and unique antique science notebook. Overall: G. Background: Charles Avery Doremus 6 September 1851 in New York City – 2 December 1925 in New York City was a United States chemist. He was the son of chemist and physician Robert Ogden Doremus. He graduated from the College of the City of New York in 1870 and subsequently studied in the universities of Leipzig and Heidelberg receiving the degree of Ph.D. from Heidelberg in 1872. In 1877 he became professor of chemistry and toxicology in the medical department of the University at Buffalo which office he held until 1882 when he became assistant to the chair of chemistry and physics in the College of the City of New York. Meanwhile he had received the appointments in New York City of lecturer on practical chemistry and toxicology in Bellevue Hospital Medical College and professor of chemistry in the American Veterinary College. The chemical laboratories in these institutions excepting Bellevue were organized under his direction. Doremus made a specialty of medical chemistry and toxicology and was frequently called into courts as an expert in such matters. He was chemist to the Medico-Legal Society and a member of the chemical societies of Berlin Paris and New York City and for some time edited the journal of the latter society. He wrote frequent papers on sanitary chemistry and methods of analysis which appeared in the proceedings of the societies to which he belonged and he is the author of a “Report on Photography” contributed to the U. S. government reports on the Exhibition held in Vienna in 1873. In fine condition. The presidency of William McKinley began on March 4 1897 when McKinley was inaugurated and ended on September 14 1901 upon his assassination. A longtime Republican McKinley is best known for conducting the successful Spanish–American War 1898 freeing Cuba from Spain; taking ownership of the Republic of Hawaii; and purchasing the Philippines Guam and Puerto Rico. Theodore Roosevelt assumed the presidency at age 42 following McKinley's assassination and remains the youngest person to become president of the United States. As a leader of the progressive movement he championed his "Square Deal" domestic policies. It called for fairness for all citizens breaking of bad trusts regulation of railroads and pure food and drugs. Roosevelt prioritized conservation and established national parks forests and monuments to preserve the nation's natural resources. In foreign policy he focused on Central America where he began construction of the Panama Canal. Roosevelt expanded the Navy and sent the Great White Fleet on a world tour to project American naval power. His successful efforts to broker the end of the Russo-Japanese War won him the 1906 Nobel Peace Prize. Roosevelt was elected to a full term in 1904 and promoted policies more to the left despite growing opposition from Republican leaders.
