There are some light wrinkles on back cover and on page 229 and wear to top of spine. Ephemera includes: 1. Published sheet circa 1951 titles Modern Steam Power Development. There is an underlined sentence and a folded edge on the right side. 2. Published Legal size sheet also circa 1951 with some information on Modern Steam Power Development and an Order Form for Light Steam Power magazine. There are some wrinkles on the paper. 3. Signed letter from publisher dated 19 December 1951 on Light Steam Power letterhead. It is typewritten and is about the British Light Steam Power Society. 1500. Fine. fin XVe- début XVIe s. 12.20 x 16.70 cm feuillet sur parchemin Recto verso fragments of a manuscript Book of Hours on parchment with sumptuously illuminated full-page borders. This compartmentalized division of ornaments is representative of the production of Rouen and Parisian workshops at the turn of the 16th century. Two illuminated pages on a recto verso leaf: the border is divided into bands decorated with floral motifs and leafy designs gilt initials painted in alternating red and blue and rubriques. The richness of the illumination characterizes these liturgical books intended for laypeople. Books of Hours were at the time jewels of piety both an instrument of religious practice and a social claim affirmed by the richness of the artists' work. A veritable small painting this leaf is probably extracted from a luxurious volume where each page was carefully painted. Here we find a fragment of the Hours of the Virgin between the end of the office of none and the beginning of vespers. Despite the antiphon ""Missus est"" different from the classical usage of the Roman ritual we find following it the usual psalm eight: ""Dixit dominus."". This antiphon is found rather in the liturgy of the diocese of Die but with the announcement of the rubric preceding vespers we can suppose a minor Roman usage. Writing called cursiva libraria on long lines. Witness to the formalization of cursive writing at the dawn of the French Renaissance this writing is emblematic of the production of French copyists for laypeople during the period. unknown

First edition of this scarce accompaniment to the "Report Upon the Prevention of Overflow of the Little Wabash and Skillet Fork Rivers" a 40pp study authored by W.J. McEathron Leroy Lemayne Hidinger and others in 1911. The Little Wabash River is a 240-mile-long tributary of the Wabash River in southern Illinois and Skillet Fork a 98-mile-long tributary of the Little Wabash. A Fine As New Example. Marineland Was First Conceived By W. Douglas Burden Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Sherman Pratt And Ilya Andreyevich Tolstoy Grandson Of Leo Tolstoy As An Oceanarium That Could Be Used To Film Marine Life. A Site Was Selected On The Atlantic Ocean South Of St. Augustine Eventually Known As The Town Of Marineland. The Site Of Marineland Is Within A 20000-Acre 8100 Ha Grant Given To London Barrister Levett Blackborne In 1767. The Well-Connected Blackborne Grandson Of Sir Richard Levett Lord Mayor Of London Never Settled His Grant Nor Even Visited Florida And Eventually Blackborne's Plantation Was Regranted To John Graham A Georgia Loyalist Fleeing The Revolutionary War. Ultimately The Land That Is Today Marineland Was Broken Up Over The Years Into Smaller Parcels.Financing And Construction Presented Challenges As Marineland Was The First Attempt At Capturing And Sustaining Sea Creatures. These Challenges Were Overcome. Construction And Engineering Were Carried Out Arthur Franklin Perry Co. Of Jacksonville. On June 23 1938 "Marine Studios" The Name "Marineland Of Florida" Would Later Be Adopted Began Operations With Its Main Attraction A Bottlenose Dolphin. Unexpectedly Over 20000 Tourists Clogged Highway A1a To Visit The New Attraction. For Many Decades Marineland Consisted Of Not Only The Oceanariums But Several Amenities Including A Motel Marine Village Court Marineland Motel And Quality Inn/Marineland; Dolphin Restaurant And Moby Dick Lounge; Periwinkle Snack Bar And Sandpiper Snack Bar; Marineland Marina; Plus Fruit Shop And Gift Shop; And A Pier At The North End Of The Facility. A Texaco Service Station Was Adjacent To The Periwinkle Snack Bar And Greyhound Bus Lines Stopped Regularly During Its St. Augustine To Daytona Beach Run. The Total Property Area Consisted Of 125 Acres 51 Ha Sandwiched Between The Atlantic Ocean And The Intracoastal Waterway. Originally Planned For The St. Augustine Area Residents Of That Community Did Not Look Favorably On The Attraction Being Located There; Thus The New Site South Of Matanzas Inlet Was Chosen. Having The Grandson Of Leo Tolstoy Involved In The Project Helped Marineland Become A Very Fashionable Destination In Its Early Days Prompting Writers Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings John Dos Passos And Ernest Hemingway To Visit Moby Dick's Bar Located There. Ms. Rawlings Was Married To Norton Baskin Who At One Time 1950S/Early 1960S Was The Operator/Manager Of The Dolphin Restaurant/Moby Dick Lounge. The Park's Facilities Were Very Popular With Tourists And Also Used For Numerous Movies Including Creature From The Black Lagoon 1954 And Revenge Of The Creature 1955. Trained Dolphins Became An Additional Attraction In The Early 1950S As Marineland Became One Of Florida's Major Attractions Attracting Over 900000 Visitors Per Year With Peak Attendance In The Mid-1970S. Innendeckel mit gedruckten Abt. 1-4 bzw. handschriftlichen Inhaltsverzeichnissen versehen; der dort mit Abt. 3 Nrn. 41-60 bezeichnete Band ist jedoch nicht mit diesem vorliegenden "III" identisch ebensowenig wie einer der anderen. - Der Hamburger Kaufmann Paul Heinrich Trummer 1862-1915 wollte seine Sammlungen darunter als bedeutendstes eine Sammlung von über 50.000 Siegeln bzw. Siegel-Abgüssen dem Staatsarchiv überlassen das sie 1920 endgültig von der Witwe Amalie geb. Schönborn 1874-1951 erwerben konnte. Bekannt ist daß er zu Lebzeiten auch Einzelnes an Archive u. An exceptional collection documenting the United States Government's systematic removal of the Miami and Pottawatomie tribes from their ancestral homelands. Proclaimed on February 8 1839 the Treaty with the Miami was made and concluded at the Forks of the Wabash in the State of Indiana between the United States of America by Commissioner Abel C. Pepper and the Miami tribe of Indians. The Miami agreed to cede the remainder of tribal lands in their possession to the United States including 511000 acres left of the Big Miami Reserve in exchange for $550000 agreeing to vacate the area within five years to a 500000 acre reservation in Kansas. The Treaty with the Miami along with several other treaties between Indian tribes and the United States government during the first decades of the nineteenth century marked a dramatic increase in calculated U.S. government efforts to strategically and forcibly remove the old Northwest Territory's American Indians from their ancestral homelands to a designated Indian Territory roughly present-day Oklahoma west of the Mississippi River. The Indian Removal Act the key law which authorized the removal of Native tribes was signed by Andrew Jackson in 1830 and enforced by the Martin Van Buren administration. After the passage of the Indian Removal Act in 1831 approximately 60000 members of the Cherokee Muscogee Creek Seminole Chickasaw and Choctaw nations including thousands of their black slaves were forcibly removed from their ancestral homelands with thousands dying during the Trail of Tears.
