The next three on State of New Jersey Office of the Governor Trenton stationery: 2. February 8 1962 declining invitation for St. Patrick's Day in Boston with pencil quote on envelope rear from West with copy of his signature from a book ffep 1935 to match handwriting; 3. April 9 1962 thanking West for 4/3/62 note and how he missed the MBA; 4. April 2 1964 "Dear Al: The exoneration of the Irish certainly brightened my St. Patrick's Day. Now if we can put our thoughts to clearing Democratic politicians of the usual unjust Republican accusations - the clearance by verse is preferred - life hereabouts would be even more complete." In New Jersey Hughes served as both as the 45th Governor 1962-70 and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court 1973-79. Retiring at the mandatory age of 70 in 1979 he practiced law until his death in 1992.
