At the top of the poem 17 lines in black ink on a leaf Camille de Sainte-Croix added this remark: ""Mon cher Alphonse veux-tu vers pour insérer Croix"" ""My dear Alphonse do you want verses to insert Croix"" with a view to having it published in a review: ""Sous le sourire grave et fin d'un crépuscule Et du fond de l'allée au feuillage rouillé J'ai vu venir un bel Amour tout dépouillé Et je lui fis un geste obscène et ridicule Presque fou chevauchant un cheval à bascule J'étais le mécréant ivre absurde et souillé . Light foxing in letter margins fold marks inherent to postal handling. Some passages have been crossed out in blue pencil but remain entirely legible. ""24. Rue A. de Neuville Paris XVII Mon cher confrère mille mercis des détails très précis que vous me donnez. Laissez-moi vous d'abord rectifier un point que j'ai dû mal exprimer. Je n'ai pas voulu dire que j'attribuais neuf mille francs aux interprètes mais à la totalité des frais. Pour les cinq acteurs je vois mille francs pour Segond & selon les prix d'Orange six cents pour chacun des quatre autres soit Albert Lambert Ferroux Keth Aour & Zakir Iddin & les deux mages X X. s'ils sont de la Comédie Française & permettent de dire & d'imprimer que la représentation est donnée par la dite Comédie sinon les prix baissent de moitié : cela ne ferait donc au maximum que 3400 de cachet. Mon idée est de faire économiquement mais d'un autre côté il y a le côté spectacle que vous m'avez signalé justement comme indispensable. Ce sont les figurants leurs casques cuirasses & lances qui représentent une assez forte dépense. Incidemment je vous indique trois détails : 1er emprunter les coulisses de verdure au théâtre municipal. 2e obtenir des clairons de la lyre & des trompettes de l'artillerie qui resteront dans la coulisse donneraient des sonneries spéciales que je ferai composer. 3e une musique militaire réduite aux bois & également invisible. Enfin si cela était possible je ne le crois pas des soldats pour figurants guerriers & des enfants d'une école pour les cortèges. Je ne commencerai à négocier les choses c'est à dire à parler ouvertement que lorsque vous me ferez signe. Quand vous viendrez à Paris faites moi le plaisir de venir dîner ou déjeuner dîner vaut mieux pour causer & en toute intimité. J'aurai plaisir à vous présenter à ma femme. il suffit que vous m'avertissiez la veille pour que fussions libres. J'espère que la neuralgie vous a déjà quittée. Famous edition richly illustrated with 6 engraved titles a frontispiece and an engraved half-title for volume I and 243 figures 243 vignettes and 226 tailpieces that is to say one figure one vignette and one tailpiece per fable. The whole engraved by Fessard. The illustration of the first 3 volumes is the work of Monnet in the last 3 many are the work of Bardin then Desrais Carême Bidault. Work entirely engraved the text by Montulay and Drouet. The whole within decorative borders. Despite Cohen's negative criticism of Des Laurier's second printing there is no difference in paper between the 2 issues nor in quality. Modern cardboard binding covered with red paper made like a period binding with paper made in the old style. Title labels and volume labels late 18th early 19th century in black sheep recovered from the original binding. Small ink stain p81 of volume VI in margin. Fessard's project was to compete with the edition produced by Oudry published the previous decade and he indeed surpassed it by the number of illustrations. The whole is executed with great elegance and one could call this edition due to its format ""The little Oudry"". Although the execution of the engravings does not reach the refinement and execution of the Oudry edition it nonetheless remains that this edition remains one of the most beautiful realizations of La Fontaine's fables and it has remained famous despite the criticisms which focused essentially on a comparison with the Oudry edition which one could not moreover compare. Light foxing in the margins of the letter fold marks inherent to the folding for mailing. ""10 rue de la Vierge Nîmes. Mon cher confrère hier on m'a dit chez vous que vous ne reviendrez pas de la campagne avant un mois & je pars dans quelques jours. J'aurais bien voulu avancer le beau projet que vous avez conçu. Si comme vous en avez eu la première idée Nîmes veut monter aux arènes une oeuvre de moi ; il y a un intérêt extrême à ce que je m'y prenne très à l'avance pour apporter à cette représentation les soins spéciaux différents des soins d'auteur. Painting executed on mulberry paper. Chinese accordion-fold album covered on the boards with green silk embroidered with flowers plants houses and red and gold animals. Handwritten silk title label with red seal. On the first leaf a large red seal. Various seals are found on the paintings. On the first folding panel paper buckled in the center. 3 cards in the album: a business card in the name of the painter with his credentials ""Member of the Guangxi branch of the Chinese Artists Association Member of the Guangxi branch of the Chinese Calligraphers Association Head of the art group of the Guilin exhibition hall"". The 2 other cards in bookmark format with black and white photograph each representing a view of Guilin with these captions: Amaranthus Lijang Memorial Yangshuo Shipping Company Guilin and Guanlian Bridge Yangshuo Shipping Company. Superb copy perfectly preserved. Ink painting is the traditional Chinese painting par excellence the word painting itself means in Chinese ink and water painting. In this technique landscape painting constitutes the most noble form of painting. This painting derives from the use of calligraphy and for a Chinese person one of these paintings is indeed read like a text. The message of these ink landscape paintings being both poetic and spiritual. The creative aspect is very removed from our Western notion it is first a matter of imitating the ancient masters and through this imitation transmitting one's vision and feelings. However the representation is very removed from mimesis and it is rather an expressionist appropriation. It is a painting of the soul and these paintings were formerly created by scholars whose works were meant to translate spiritual elevation. The work constitutes eloquent testimony of a renewal of traditional Chinese painting before its extinction upon Mao's rise to power in 1949. Artists would have to associate their works with socialist realism and the repression would be total. hardcover

Numerous mentions in English by the designer around the drawings depicting the front and back of an extravagant dress which to our knowledge has never been made. Top corner of the first drawing backed with a small piece of tape. The very body-hugging front of the dress is torn at the chest ""double breasted tuxedo wriped sic"". The blonde model wears a mask ""wolf Mask lace eventually "" similar to the famous ""Mouche"" sunglasses created by Mugler for his ""insects"" 1997 spring-summer collection or the incredible masks designed for Lady Gaga. The second drawing of the back of the dress shows a real trompe-l'oeil: Manfred notes to paint a portrait of Kim Kardashian ""KIM FACE"" on the back of the model ""tattoo or photo hand paint"" with black hair ""black dark hair"" ; the revealed bottom and flared hips of the model depicting the ample bosom of ""Kim"". Uncovered backs are not new to Mugler who had already created a dress revealing the model's posterior decorated with a triple strand of pearls in his 1995-96 ready-to-wear fall-winter collection for the 20-year anniversary of his label. Manfred designed this dress for his muse Kim Kardashian: ""I love extreme personalities they exist and they correspond to what I want to express. . I've always been looking for all kinds of beauty. Whatever bodies I perfect they also exist without my intervention but I oversize them I adjust the waist the shoulders the whole silhouette. Kim Kardashian is a perfect example; she is a callipygous beauty an eternal almost ancient feminine ideal."" ""Conversation between Manfred T.
