In 16, pp. 22. Br. ed. muta. Traduzione di questo noto oratorio, composto da Haydn tra il 1796 e il '98, probabilmente ispirato dai suoi viaggi in Inghilterra. L'oratorio venne rappresentato per la prima volta a vienna nel 1798, per un pubblico molto ristretto di nobili. Nel marzo del 1799, venne rappresentato nel Burgtheatre sempre in Vienna con un'orchestra di 120 elementi e 60 cantanti. Una traduzione italiana ad opera del Carpani data il 1825.

Les partitions des deux violons sont séparées, chacune dans un volume: la partie du violon alto dans un des volumes, la partie de la basse de violon (l'ancêtre du violoncelle) dans l’autre. The instrumental Prelude and Marche are seldom performed in concert. This vocal score is a digitally enhanced reissue of the one published by G. Giovanni Carlo Maria Clari (Pisa, 27 settembre 1677 – Pisa, 16 maggio 1754) è stato un compositore italiano. The book is a monograph of the baroque musician, choir master of Pistoia Cathedral in Tuscany. It is an in-depth study of his nine oratorios - their music and their texts. Clari was a contemporary of Handel and a possible influence on the latter's own oratorios.
