Ah, la vecchia BUR! Storie di libri e di editori. Nuova ediz.
ill. È difficile immaginare oggi l'enorme impatto che ebbero i piccoli volumetti grigi della BUR quando uscirono nel 1949 e si diffusero in tutta Italia, da Palermo a Trieste. In un'Italia appena uscita dai disastri della Seconda guerra mondiale, ma desiderosa di riprendersi e rinascere dalla crisi economica e morale ereditata dal ventennio fascista. Oltre alla ricostruzione materiale delle case, delle industrie, delle strade, dei commerci, era indispensabile e urgente una ricostruzione culturale e morale. La nascita della BUR si inserisce in questo sforzo di ripresa di un decoroso e civile livello di vita. I libri della BUR presentavano i grandi classici di tutti i tempi e di tutte le letterature, in ottime traduzioni integrali a un prezzo bassissimo. Per tutti gli anni Cinquanta e la prima metà degli anni Sessanta la diffusione della BUR fu un fenomeno mai visto prima in Italia. Già nel 1952 l'Unesco definì la BUR "iniziativa di importanza e interesse mondiale". Poi venne il Sessantotto e la contestazione della cultura tradizionale, quindi dei classici, e nel 1965 gli Oscar con la narrativa contemporanea e le copertine colorate. Era cambiato il mondo, era in corso il miracolo economico e l'innalzamento della scuola dell'obbligo alla media. Anche la BUR doveva cambiare e cambiò. Fu introdotta la narrativa contemporanea, per i classici fu introdotto il testo a fronte e le introduzioni e le note si alzarono di livello. Era nata la seconda BUR. Per definire la differenza tra la prima e la seconda BUR non ci sono parole migliori di quelle di Giorgio Manganelli: "La vecchia BUR assomigliava alla Reclam, l'universale tedesca che esiste tuttora; la nuova prende il tè con la Loeb, con i Classiques Garnier, magari si fa presentare alle Belles Lettres". Queste vicende ci racconta Evaldo Violo, storico direttore della collana dal 1973 al 2002, in una lunga conversazione con Marco Vitale, ripercorrendo, da un'angolazione privilegiata, un buon tratto delle storia dell'editoria italiana della seconda metà del secolo scorso.

Gutes Exemplar. - Pionierarbeit. - Dieser empirischen Untersuchung über Industriebauarbeiter in der DDR liegen 900 Interviews zugrunde. Ihr Ergebnis ist daher repräsentativ für eine maßgebliche Schicht von Arbeitern im modernen Industriebau. Die Erhebung wurde vom Verfasser auf Großbaustellen der DDR, so in Leuna II, im Kombinat Schwarze Pumpe und im Eisenhüttenkombinat Ost durchgeführt. Sie gibt Auskunft über Freizeitgestaltung, Ausbildungsinteressen und Betriebsklima unter Montagearbeitern ebenso, wie über Arbeitsmotivation, Fluktuation und Staatsbewußtsein in dieser Gruppe. Die Befunde sind sowohl mit den Zielen und Erwartungen der SED konfrontiert, wie mit den Resultaten moderner industriesoziologischer Forschung. Die Arbeit ist zugleich eine Einführung in die Industriesoziologie der sozialistischen Staaten. Dieter Voigt arbeitet seit 1969 in der BRD und ist seit 1975 o.
