In tale direzione i saggi raccolti nel volume indagano su alcuni nodali plessi critici: il darsi in Platone, accanto al radicale sospetto verso la sfera dell’immagine, del sensibile, di una straordinaria apertura al linguaggio figurale del mito come dell’analogia e della metafora; la messa alla prova, nell'alto medioevo, della relazione tra sensibile e densità del corporeo e trasparenza dell’incorporeo nella ricerca della verità nella forma dell’oratio; l’inedito ripensamento, in Vico, della funzione cruciale del procedimento inventivo metaforico nelle operazioni fondative del mondo storico umano; la riprova, nell'uso della cruciale metaforica dell’organismo in Hegel, che pure nelle più possenti costruzioni di sistemi della ragione si danno figure che non si lasciano scogliere del tutto nella luce del concetto; la centralità in Ortega y Gasset dell’eminenza ed efficacia della funzione della metafora nella vita spirituale. br. Il libro racconta la sorprendente vicenda umana e interiore di un protagonista poco conosciuto del Movimento dei Focolari: Egidio Santanché, meglio noto come "Soave". Utilizzando molto del materiale lasciato dal protagonista, l'autore - che lo ha conosciuto personalmente - compone un quadro variegato che spazia tra vicende personali, familiari, intime e alcuni eventi esterni acarattere pubblico a partire dalla fine degli anni '30 del '900 fino all'inizio del nuovo secolo. In particolare emerge un inedito spaccato di alcune vicende avvincenti, drammatiche e, in parte, non prive di un certo mistero che hanno fatto da sottofondo allo sviluppo del Movimento dei Focolari e della vita più intima della sua fondatrice: Chiara Lubich.
