‎First appearance of one of the founding papers in ""The mathematical Theory of Elasticity"" and Poisson's first on the subject. ""The theory of elasticity based on the idea of a molecular structure attracted Poisson's interest, and he did much to lay the foundations of that science.""(Timoshenko p. 111 ff.).""In the preface to the long ""Mémoire sur I’équilibre et le movement des corps élastiques"" (14 April 1828), the hints yield to explicit declaration. In applying mathematics to physics, Poisson stated, it was necessary at first to employ abstraction and ""in this regard, Lagrange has gone as far as possible in replacing physical ties by equations between coordinates."" Now, however, ""along with this admirable conception,"" it is necessary to ""construct physical mechanics, the principle of which is to reduce everything to molecular actions."" Target, who made a major contribution to the wording of the 1791 Constitution, he was one of the prime movers in the national patriot party in 1788-1789 and he contributed notably to the Constituent Assembly's legal, constitutional and administrative reforms. - A very nice and well preserved collection.This Mirabeau was the younger brother of the famous Mirabeau and member of the National Assembly. He emigrated to Germany in 1790 where he formed the famous legion of the "hussards de la mort." He received the nickname of "Tonneau" due to his being often drunk. Reproached by his brother he answered: "What are you complaining about ? Of all the possible vices of the family you have left me only this one!"‎

Carter Master Painter “Color Packs†came in 53 different colours shades and tints including Lamp Black French Ochre Venetian Red Raw Umber Burnt Sienna Parisian Blue and others as carefully depicted in the folding colour paint sample chart. ‎Im Titel dieses (dritten autoriserten) Drucks wird der seinerzeit berühmte (Garten)Architekt Alexandre LeBlond als Urheber genannt, der wesentlich zur Verbreitung des französischen Gartenstils außerhalb Frankreichs beitrug und unter anderem das Schloß Peterhof bei St. Petersburg schuf. Erst in späteren Auflagen wird der tatsächliche Autor, L. S. A. J. D. A. [=Le Sieur Antoine Joseph Dezallier d'Argenville] genannt, der wohl bei Le Blond Mal- und Zeichenunterricht genommen hatte. "Remains to this day the standard authority on the formal garden. It was written by d'Argenville the elder, under the instructions and supervision of the architect J.B.A. LeBlond" (Fowler). Während sich die Forschung weitgehend einig ist, dass Teile der Kupferstiche auf Le Blond zurückgehen, so ist umstritten, ob er auch an der Gesamtkonzeption dieses bedeutenden Gartenbuches mitwirkte. Es ist eines der wichtigsten Gartenbücher des 18. Jahrhunderts, das von seiner ersten Auflage 1709 bis 1771 viele Auflagen erlebte, darunter auch mehrere Raubdrucke des Verlags Husson in Den Haag. Marie Luise Gothein widmet dem Buch allein 3 Seiten in ihrer "Geschichte der Gartenkunst", vermutet aber eher Le Blond als Autor: "Niemals wieder hat ein Buch mit so klarer faßlicher Sicherheit das Wesen eines Stiles in Lehrsätze umgegossen." Auf ihre Anmerkung, dass es den Nutzgarten etwas überheblich nur am Rande erwähnt, ist zu bemerken, dass jenes Thema seit Erscheinens des Epoche machenden Werkes von La Quintinie "Instruction pour les Jardins fruitiers et potagers" (1.Aufl. 1690) umfassend bearbeitet war. Hans Formitti hat die Planungsrichtlinien d'Argenvilles analysiert und betont "..wie sehr ein solches Planungssystem heute für die Erforschung, Erhaltung und Dokumentation von architektonischen Gärten nutzbar ist." In addition to manuscript scores by Sussman of five parts soprano tenor bass alto and conductor of 'Hatikvah' the five parts totalling 6pp. 4to with staves also drawn out in manuscript there is a duplicated typescript of an English translation of 'Hatikvah' titled 'Men Awake!' 'Workers all! Hear the call!' on one side of a 4to leaf with the Hebrew lyrics in Sussman's duplicated autograph on the reverse with directions to Gardiner's Corner Aldgate East London where the song was presumably sung in support of the Jewish settlement of Palestine/Israel.
