‎New York: Del Rey / Ballantine 3 volumes 6 13/16" H. 1. The Stolen Throne: 356 pp 1995 1st printing ISBN 0345380479 - "An uneasy peace had prevailed these last few years between the Empire of Videssos and rival Makuran. But now Makuran's King of Kings alerted his border holdings - even the small fortress where Abivard's father was lord - to prepare for barbarian raids. But Abivard himself received a warning of a different sort: an eerie prophecy of a field a hill and a shield shining across the sea. Before a season had turned his father and his King lay dead upon the field of battle - the very place foreseen in the vision. Abivard hastened home to defend his family and his land. To his dismay the most urgent danger came not from marauding tribes or from Videssos but from the capital. An obscure and greedy bureaucrat had captured the crown; the rightful heir had disappared and no mortal man would say where he might be found." 2. Hammer and Anvil: 372 pp 1996 1st printing ISBN 0345380487 - "A pretender held the throne of Videssos - a despot who cared little that barbarian hordes and rival realms carved away at his empire so long as the wealth and booty of the land satisfied his unbridled appetites. Only one name held hope for freedom: Maniakes. And from his exile on the very edge of the civilized world young Maniakes took up the challenge rallied his forces and sailed off to topple the tyrant. But the tyrant would use every means at his disposal - fair or most hideously foul - to destroy the crusading upstart. And even if Maniakes could stay alive he would still have to pull together a battered divided land as well as fend off a host of enemies - and thwart the former friend who had become his empire's most deadly foe!" 3. The Thousand Cities: 404 pp 1997 1st printing ISBN 0345380495 - "Abivard marshal of Makuran pondered the impossible. How could he carry out the command of Sharbaraz King of Kings to destroy the invincible Empire of Videssos Then against all expectations the Emperor of Videssos invaded Makuran itself. Abivard was thrust on the defensive forced homeward to drive the invaders from the fabled land of the Thousand Cities. Abivard needed not only his greatest battle skills but his most powerful magicians for no one doubted that Videssian military strategy would be accompanied by the finest sorcery. ‎Toronto: Random House Canada 2010. 479 pp 9 1/4" H. "Novelist Christopher Knox knows all about books. Real life however has spiraled to the point where he barely knows his own son. Separated from his wife and battling writer's block Chris still finds joy in one thing: reading 11-year-old David his nightly bedtime story. When Chris introduces David to a fantasy novel by a long-forgotten author his reluctant reader is enthralled. The curious old book becomes the centre of the boy's life - until one night when a mysterious seizure leaves him unconscious. As doctors puzzle over David's condition Chris makes a critical discovery. Convinced that the novel is responsible for David's affliction Chris races desperately from Victoria to New York to Washington State in search of the truth. Meanwhile David wakes up within the fantasy world of the book. As his father struggles to save him in the real world where the boy's condition is worsening David fights for his life in a reality designed to capture the hearts - and souls - of children just like him. ‎IRISH FAIRY AND FOLK TALES.‎

‎New York: Barnes & Noble 1993. 416 pp 8 1/4" H. B&w illustrations. "W.B. Yeats included almost every sort of Irish folk tale in this marvelous compendium of fairy tales and song which he collected and edited for publication in 1892. Here are tales of the chilling wail of the Banshee whose cry portends death and of the fish-tailed Merrow whose beautiful women spurn their green-haired husbands for handsome local fishermen. There are bewitched puddings lost wishes fairies changelings Leprechauns ghosts giants devils and kings that touch our souls and fire our imagination. Not coincidentally it is in the weath of symbol within Irish folklore that Yeats found the key to his personal and individual mythology - the muse of his poetic genius." The stories are gathered under the headings: The Fate of the Children of Lir; The Trooping Fairies The Fairies / Changelings / The Merrow; The Solitary Fairies; Ghosts; Witches Fairy Doctors; Tyeer-Na-N-Oge; Saints Priests; The Devil; Giants; Kings Queens Princesses Earls Robbers.
