"Prima edizione in ottavo" di quest'opera pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1768 (in 2 volumi in-4); le tavole presenti in questa edizione sono la versione ridotta delle originali di Aubriet, Le Berriays e Basseporte.Interessante trattato di H.L. Duhamel de Monceau (Parigi, 1700 - 1781), agronomo ed Ispettore generale della Marina, membro dell'Accademia delle Scienze e della Società Reale di Medicina: in esso l'A. fornisce indicazioni generali sull'innesto e sulla potatura oltre a dettagliate descrizioni di particolari varietà di alberi da frutto. Quasi tutte le copie in vendita e quelle passate in asta presentano 176 tavole, ma è incerto il numero totale delle tavole secondo Nissen,BBI,550 (181) e secondo Stafleu,1546 (180). Alc. strappetti marginali restaurati a 4 cc. del 1° vol. (I8, K8, L8, M8); gore d'acqua sulle prime carte del 3° vol., altrimenti esemplare ben conservato.

Cartonatura d'attesa decorata e bordi intonsi. Notazione al verso dell'occhietto di entrambi i volumi: Ex donum heredum Joannis Hieronimi Carli presbiteri Senensis. Paschalis Codde'. Edizione originale italiana (la prima francese risale al 1758) in esemplare di estrema genuinita', freschezza e notevole provenienza. Giovanni Gerolamo Carli fu un importante erudito senese, versato in molte discipline, letterarie, all'archeologiche, storiche e scientifiche (si occupo' di paleontologia durante il suo soggiorno in Gubbio e, in seguito, anche di cristallografia). Molte furono le sue peregrinazioni in Italia, dovute anche a dissapori con colleghi. Da Siena passo' a Colle Val D'Elsa, Gubbio e in seguito a Mantova dove, alla morte del Carli il libro fu donato a Pasquale Codde' (1756 - 1828), accademico mantovano e studioso di storia dell'arte. Traduzione dal francese ad opera dell'abate Giulio Perini. Il Re definisce l'edizione: '...lo studio poi della fisica degli alberi della quale abbiamo una buona traduzione del Perini, stampata in Venezia con i migliori rami che si veggano in Italia, di questa natura, riesce indispensabile a chi ami di sapere fondatamente l'agricoltura...'.
