Paris, Madame Huzard, 1830. In/12 reliure demi-basane rouge, dos lisse à filets et titre dorés, 11 f., 475 p. "Christophe Mathieu de Dombasle (1777 - 1843) fut membre de la Société d'Agriculture de Paris en 1834 et correspondant de l'Académie des Sciences. Fils d'un grand maître des Eaux et Forêts, militaire sous l'Empire, il complète sa formation scientifique et crée une sucrerie de betteraves et une distillerie. En 1822, on lui confie, pour vingt ans, la ferme de Roville dont il fait une ferme expérimentale et une école d'agriculture privée. Il introduit la culture du lin en Loraine, montre l'intérêt de la chaux pour améliorer la structure des terres argileuses, et multiplie les façons culturales. Il crée pour cela une charrue célèbre, des instruments aratoires qu'il fabrique. Son influence a été considérable à travers ses écrits et surtout ses élèves-stagiaires qui ont vulgarisé ses démarches et ses théories agronomiques".

XI tavv. f.t. incise finemente in rame su carta forte a colori d'epoca, raffiguranti soggetti di piante marine, coralli, madrepore.<BR>Piena pelle marmorizzata coeva con dorso a nervi, scomparti e fregi dorati. Traccia di tassello e titolo; etichetta alla cuffia sup. in carta antica, sguardie marmorizzate, tagli in rosso. <BR>Bella ed importante prima edizione francese stampata da Pierre De Hondt, rarissima da trovarsi colorata d'epoca come nel nostro esemplare. L'autore (1713 - 1763) fu medico e naturalista, formò i propri studi a Padova, viaggiò molto in Italia e in oriente. Quest'opera fu il frutto editoriale delle sue ricerche, in quanto di tutte le sue accurate osservazioni, riuscì a pubblicare solo quelle eseguite sul Mare Adriatico. Ottimo esemplare marginoso. Nota manoscritta alla sguardia iniziale. Minime mende alle cerniere; traccia di tarlo che non lede il testo solo alle ultime 2 carte n.n.<BR>Pritzel 2370; B.M.C. 472; "importante per la nomenclatura" (Stafleu & Cowan). <BR>
