Santa Monica CA: Indochina Peace Campaign 1973. Presumed first edition/first printing. Wraps. Fair. Moisture stains at bottom edge all pages separate and text intact. Label of previous owner on title page. Rhodes Molly front cover drawing. 2 42 p. Includes illustrations. This type of Vietnam war era Anti-war ephemera or propaganda is increasingly rare in any condition. From an on-line posting: "As an anti-war and peace movement organization the Indochina Peace Campaign IPC operated in such cities as Boston New York Detroit and Santa Clara Calif. from the years 1972 to 1975. Founded by the social activist Tom Hayden the organization's professed aims included the mobilization of dissent against the Vietnam War the formation of a broad-based campaign demanding unconditional amnesty for U.S. war resisters and the dissemination of educational information on a wide variety of subjects connected to U.S. domestic and foreign policy. Within Massachusetts itself the local organization known as the Resource Center and located in Cambridge worked steadily in the Boston area from its inception in October of 1972. Performing consistent outreach work by means of films slide showings and speaking tours the Boston IPC also initiated a weekly newsclipping service on Indochina "Southeast Asia Between the Lines" and assisted in the collection of general medical aid for Indochina in connection with the Medical Aid to Indochina organization. It also lent a considerable mount of support when in 1974 the national IPC spearheaded the formation of the United Campaign for Peace. Organized in response to the continued U.S. involvement in Indochina the United Campaign embraced numerous peace groups and included such organizations as the American Friends Service Committee Clergy and Laity Concerned and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. In 1975 after the perceived completion of their work the organizations comprising the IPC including the Boston IPC disbanded themselves. Their final act was to create two new organizations the "Friends of Indochina" and the "Campaign for a Democratic Foreign Policy"--neither of which ever fully materialized." International Campaign for Tibet
Nuclear Tibet; Nuclear Weapons and Nuclear Waste on the Tibetan Plateau: A Report
Washington DC: International Campaign for Tibet 1993. Presumed First Edition First printing. Trade paperback. Very good. 8 64 pages. Maps. Illustrations. Footnotes. Sources. Cover has slight wear and soiling. Preface by William M. Arkin. Few aspects of China's rule over Tibet have created as much anger as allegations of nuclear mismanagement on the Tibetan plateau. Now "Nuclear Tibet" a report published by the International Campaign for Tibet ICT reveals details about a previously-secret Chinese nuclear facility there. Says John Ackerly stated by some to be the report's author "While the report presents a body of credible and substantiated information on aspects of the nuclear program in Tibet it is only a beginning in understanding the human impact and the full strategic value of the plateau to China in terms of the nuclear cycle." The International Campaign for Tibet ICT is a non-profit advocacy group working to promote democratic freedoms for Tibetans ensure their human rights and protect Tibetan culture and the environment. Founded in 1988 ICT is the world's largest Tibet-related NGO with several hundred thousand members and strong bases of support in North America and Europe. ICT maintains offices in Washington D.C. Amsterdam Brussels and Berlin. ICT's work focuses on three main areas: reporting on the situation inside Tibet advocating for Tibet with governments and reaching out to Chinese individuals organizations and media entities. The International Campaign for Tibet works to promote self-determination human rights and democratic freedoms for the Tibetan people and negotiations between the 14th Dalai Lama and the People's Republic of China. The three main departments of ICT are devoted to reporting and communications advocacy and Chinese outreach. Monitoring and reporting on human rights environmental and socio-economic conditions in Tibet makes up a significant portion of ICT's activities with information coming directly from inside Tibet and also from a network of Tibetan researchers based in India and Nepal. ICT advocacy efforts are focused on securing humanitarian and development assistance for Tibetans and working with governments to develop policies and programs to help Tibetans. ICT asks its members to petition governments on behalf of Tibet and organizes activities like the annual Tibet Lobby Day which gives constituents a chance to directly ask their representatives to help Tibet. Additional advocacy efforts are focused on achieving the release of Tibetans imprisoned for their political or religious beliefs. Through Chinese Outreach ICT engages Chinese thinkers and the broader Chinese public with the goal of increasing mutual understanding between Chinese and Tibetans. ICT is a member of International Federation for Human Rights. International Campaign for Tibet paperback
