L’amour lui donne des ailes, des couleurs. L’amour est pour lui la mort instantanée ou très prochaine. L’insecte crée des républiques et des cités. Ce “fils de la nuit” est capable de métamorphoses. Ce livre sensible et inspiré n’est pas juste un traité scientifique, c’est une oeuvre intime, poétique et engagée. Bel exemplaire, malgré quelques pâles rousseurs.

Bella legatura coeva in piena pelle rossa con titolo, filetti e nome dell'antico proprietario impressi al dorso. Buono-ottimo stato di conservazione. Tagli leggermente spruzzati in azzurro. Prima edizione di questa importante relazione di esplorazione africana di Michel Charles. L'autore uomo d'affari e militare coloniale francese, il 28 febbraio 1897, si recò a Gibuti, come secondo della missione comandata dal marchese de Bonchamps, il cui obiettivo era quello di unirsi alla missione Marchand a Fascioda. La missione arrivò a 150 km da Fascioda, ma dovette tornare indietro senza raggiungere il suo obiettivo. Il 3 Luglio 1898, Charles Michel rientrò in Francia e pubblicò la relazione della celebre esplorazione nella quale raccolse non solo le sue impressioni di viaggio ma anche interessantissime nozioni sui costumi, la flora e la fauna dei territori attraversati. Le tavole fuori testo illustrano campioni entomologici. Prima edizione in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Very good copy.
