Sociologo spagnolo, per ragioni accademiche Jose Medina Eschavarria si reco' a Madrid per finire il suo dottorato in legge. In quegli anni di formazione, la figura di Adolfo Posada, ha influenzato fortemente il suo approccio agli studi sociologici, tanto che nel 1930 si reco' all'Universita' di Marburg, dove completo' la sua formazione e si interesso' alla sociologia, allo storicismo e alla fenomenologia tedesca, che diffondera' in lingua spagnola.Dopo aver girato l'Europa, conoscendo e collegandosi a grandi pensatori come Ortega y Gasset, arrivo' in Messico nel 1939, dove poro' avanti, insieme ad altri emigrati, una intensa attivita' intellettuale: assunse la prima cattedra di sociologia dell'Universita' Nazionale del Messico (UNAM, insegno' alla National School of Economics sulla metodologia della ricerca sociale, tradusse in molte lingue il lavoro postumo di Max Weber "Economia e societa'"e pubblico' diversi libri. In seguito lascio' il Messico, rimanendo comunque in America Latina: in Colombia, divenne professore all'Universita' Nazionale, a Porto Rico professore all'Universita' di Río Piedras, in Cile lavoro' per la Commissione economica per l'America Latina e i Caraibi (ECLAC). Nel 1957 in FLACSO fu uno dei tre esperti dell'UNESCO, fu nominato il primo direttore dopo la creazione della Scuola latinoamericana di sociologia ELAS. Nei suoi anni di Santiago pubblico' quattro libri importanti, tra cui spiccano "Aspetti sociali dello sviluppo economico" e "Considerazioni sociologiche sullo sviluppo economico", testi che costituiscono un contributo fondamentale alla sociologia dello sviluppo latinoamericano. Questo libro nasce in seguito ad una conferenza presso l'Univerista' di Morelia. Lingua: spagnolo.

brossura La nuova edizione qui presentata tiene conto di alcuni indispensabili aggiornamenti che hanno investito l'ambito della sociologia dell'alimentazione negli ultimi anni. I principali cambiamenti riguardano l'introduzione di sei nuovi paragrafi, dovuti ad un allargamento delle rappresentazioni sociali legate al mondo del cibo, che affrontano temi attuali quali il rapporto alimentazione/mass media; Expo 2015 e le nuove diete vegetariane. L'impianto generale del testo, invece, è rimasto: si considera l'alimentazione come qualcosa di più inglobante rispetto alle visioni classiche, caratterizzata al suo interno da un insieme di rappresentazioni sociali che rendono il cibo un vero e proprio "fatto sociale" estremamente ricco e corrispondente ad una forma plastica di rappresentazione collettiva. È su queste premesse che all'interno del volume, dopo aver presentato le maggiori teorie che si sono occupate del binomio alimentazione/società, si costruisce un suggestivo itinerario che esplora il mondo della tavola nei suoi aspetti sociali e culturali, mettendone in risalto da un lato le sue complesse relazioni con le emozioni individuali e simboliche e dall'altro le caratteristiche di bene di consumo e di elemento economico e identitario. È sullo studio organico e sistemico delle rappresentazioni sociali legate al cibo che nasce e si fonda l'area disciplinare della sociologia dell'alimentazione.

The first and only edition of this rare Turkish illustrated book including the lecture notes for the Turkish military schools, on the principles of establishing a factory and industrialization, given by Kagitçi, who was the pioneer of the Ottoman / Turkish paper industry, who defended the thesis that a national paper industry should be established in Turkey and that there are all kinds of possibilities to achieve this in the period, who served as an "Industry Teacher" in the Military Academy Command High School of Materials between 1927-1934. This is one of the first works on its field in the rising early Republican Turkey in the period, including Ahmet Hamdi's book "Fabrikacilik" [i.e. Fabrication] published in 1919, and supporting the industrial breakthrough that was initiated after the proclamation of the Republic. Kagitçi went to Germany to study papermaking with the permission of the institution he worked for. He worked in the pulp and paper mills of Hannoversche Papierfabriken Alfeld-Gronau Company in Germany at the end of 1925. He went to France in 1926 and served as a worker in the pulp, paper, and cardboard factories of Papeteries de France. After learning the watermark technique in Lyon and the pulp deposition techniques in Metz, from the source and by practice, he enrolled in the Institute of Papermaking, affiliated with the Faculty of Science of the University of Grenoble. Mehmed Ali Bey, who completed his education at the institute with first place in 1927, returned to Turkey with the title of "Paper Engineer". The projects of a factory that will produce paper, cardboard, packaging paper, newsprint and cigarette paper in Turkey were prepared under his management. Özege 5356.; Not in OCLC.
