But as Norman Ohler reveals in this gripping new history the Third Reich was saturated with drugs. On the eve of World War II Germany was a pharmaceutical powerhouse and companies such as Merck and Bayer cooked up cocaine opiates and most of all methamphetamines to be consumed by everyone from factory workers to housewives to millions of German soldiers. In fact troops regularly took rations of a form of crystal meth—the elevated energy and feelings of invincibility associated with the high even help to explain certain German military victories. While drugs alone cannot explain the Nazis’ toxic racial theories or the events of World War II Ohler’s investigation makes an overwhelming case that if drugs are not taken into account our understanding of the Third Reich is fundamentally incomplete. Drop-title; edges slightly creased with a few tiny tears; an excellent copy. Commonwealth of Australia Parliamentary Paper Number 183 of 1907-8; only 950 copies printed. 'In 1903 Beale Octavius Charles Beale 1850-1930 was a member of the New South Wales royal commission on the decline of the birth-rate and on the mortality of infants. Believing that the inquiry had failed to stem the social change that disturbed him he continued to pester the Commonwealth government about "secret drugs" and abortifacients the use of which was "ruining the moral fibre of the nation". Authorized by the prime minister Alfred Deakin in 1905-06 he collected information in the United States of America Britain and Europe and on his return was appointed to act at his own expense as a royal commissioner into secret drugs cures and foods. In 1908 Beale presented his report which was chiefly distinguished by its moralistic tone and reliance on opinions rather than evidence and had to be purged of some of its wilder claims before publication. He was criticized by some members of parliament and legislation had to be enacted to give him the protection of retrospective privilege' 'Australian Dictionary of Biography'. J. Vintage flyer created circa 1989 calling for art submissions to the 1990 exhibition "The Big 'War on Drugs' Lie Series" held at Artists' Television Access ATA in San Francisco and sponsored by Not A Pretty Picture Productions. <br /> <br /> Featuring an illustration of a skull with an Uncle Sam hat a skeleton hand holding drug paraphernalia and police the flyer calls for "art makers" to submit an art piece or a performance proposal "exposing the 'War on Drugs' to public scrutiny." The exhibition was held at ATA from January 5-31 1990 and included public forums and film screenings.<br /> <br /> Formed in 1986 the ATA is a San Francisco-based artist-run nonprofit which promotes underground and experimental art as well as providing a screening venue for independent films exhibitions performances workshops and events.<br /> <br /> Not A Pretty Pictures Productions was founded by filmmakers Kathy Dodd and Sharon Stevens.<br /> <br /> 8.5 x 11 inches. L'assunzione di responsabilità e il desiderio di riscatto, di un futuro migliore, l'aiuteranno a ritrovare il benessere familiare e a uscire dalla tossicodipendenza con immensi sacrifici. La storia vuole essere di esempio per le persone che si ritrovano ad affrontare situazioni difficili, non per forza uguali a quelle narrate, e per i loro cari. Il messaggio che emerge è che certi errori possono essere evitati anche grazie al supporto di una famiglia che non si limita a impartire regole, ma che crea con i figli un rapporto affettivo fatto di fiducia e ascolto reciproco.
