brossura La mafia è un'organizzazione psicopatologica oppure no? Ancor prima di rispondere a questa domanda, è necessario interrogarsi su cosa si debba intendere per "psicopatologia". Esiste la psicopatologia o possiamo conferire a questo termine un alone semantico più ampio che prenda in considerazione aspetti della vita psichica della persona il cui valore intrinseco va inteso in rapporto al contesto culturale di riferimento? È una questione non di poco conto se si considera la mafia come un'organizzazione con una sua propria cultura, ovvero con propri codici valoriali e comportamentali. Dai contributi presenti in questo volume, non emergono nei membri della mafia quadri psicopatologici specifici, ma formazioni identitarie noi-centriche che ostacolano qualsiasi forma di crescita emotiva e individuale, autonoma e consapevole: indifferenza relazionale, distacco emotivo e una certa scissione psicologica fra ciò che è buono (la mafia) e ciò che è cattivo (chi si oppone alla mafia) sembrano caratterizzare la psicologia (patologica) di costoro. Ma è nella riflessione sulle vittime (indirette e dirette) delle mafie che la psicopatologia si rivela, in tutta la sua drammaticità, con storie di depressioni, di sindromi post-traumatiche, di comportamenti additivi, di forti stati di ansia, ecc. Articolandosi fra dati di ricerca, esemplificazioni cliniche e riflessioni teoriche sulle organizzazioni mafiose e sulle vittime di mafia, il volume si rivolge ad un ampio pubblico di lettori interessato a comprendere le dinamiche psicopatologiche che qualificano il fenomeno mafioso.

"Il libro che ci apprestiamo a leggere percorre un territorio pionieristico per gli studi psicoanalitici ed è la testimonianza di quanto la psicoanalisi come teoria e come modello di lavoro sia flessibile e possa adattarsi a diversi ambiti della vita, della cultura e della società, possa articolare un dialogo con il mondo giuridico e carcerario e collaborare con essi. Il volume, che si suddivide in una parte teorica e in una clinica, mostra nella prima la ricchezza della comprensione psicoanalitica in questi disturbi, mentre nella seconda ci permette di entrare nel vivo di una pratica abbastanza lontana dal setting psicoanalitico o anche psicoterapeutico. Il bel capitolo di De Mari che leggiamo dopo l'introduzione, pone da subito i problemi specifici di questo ambito. De Mari precisa anzitutto che non si può parlare sempre e comunque di patologie mentali ma che dobbiamo guardare a questi fenomeni come «aspetti di personalità, che possiamo ritrovare in diversi quadri sindromici psicopatologici, come anche nelle persone 'sane'» e mette inoltre in luce come possa esistere «un'apparente normalità di comportamento» che coesiste con «una visione distorta della relazione da un punto di vista morale e soprattutto affettivo». Questi aspetti, tra gli altri, rendono molto arduo l'intervento sia sul piano farmacologico che su quello psicoterapeutico, perché questi soggetti possono anche tentare manipolazioni al fine di «ridimensionare la propria responsabilità e ottenere, in modo opportunistico, tutti i vantaggi secondari possibili, primo fra tutti una riduzione della pena». Le domande che De Mari si pone fin da questo capitolo sono quelle cruciali: anzitutto se la teoria psicoanalitica è utile in questi casi e se possiamo chiamare psicoanalisi gli interventi, modificati e adattati al contesto, che vengono utilizzati. Il libro si dispiega poi ad ampio spettro, da capitoli che con un coerente impianto teorico tentano di discutere le problematiche della perversione e della follia criminale a temi che si occupano delle istituzioni giudiziarie o delle varie fasi del processo."
