‎21 (soltanto, su 30 o 31?) grandi VEDUTE, in tonalità seppia, tutte rettangolari (salvo quella ovale del frontepizio ornato) oblunghe di cm. 25x19, sono editorialmente applicate su supporti in cartoncino (tutti editorialmente sciolti: erano in una cartella in tela e oro, di cui abbiamo i piatti staccati e recanti pesanti segni del tempo) entro larghe cornici color avorio con filetti in bianco, arrotondate agli angoli; le belle grandi didascalie e la dicitura "Fototipia Danesi" sono in calce, brillanti di color rame. Tutte le 21 foto sono in ottimo stato, non toccate dai difetti che interessano solo due dei supporti, che segnaliamo qui sotto. 1) le due chiese di Piazza del Popolo, al front.; difetti ai margini del supporto. 2) Panorama dal Pincio. 3) Fontana del Bernini al Foro Agonale [=piazza Navona]. 4) Campidolio [sic]. 5) SCAVI RECENTI nella Basilica Giulia. 6) Castel S. Angelo. 7) Foro Romano. 8) Tempio di Antonino e Faustina. 9) Tempio di Venere e Roma. 10) Panteon [con banchetti e teli accanto alla fontana]. 11) Tempio di Vesta. 12) Basilica di Costantino, 13) Foro Trajano. 14) Sepolcro di Cecilia Metella. 15) Via Appia. 16) Tribuna di S. Maria Maggiore. 17) Facciata di S. Maria Maggiore, 18) S. Giovanni in Laterano. 19) Palazzo Reale al Quirinale (didascalia che è dunque posteriore al XX settembre 1870; difetti marginali al supporto). 20) San Pietro in Vaticano. 21) Interno di san pietro [ma queste due ultime non paiono fotografie, bensì litografie alla penna]. DANESI: "dopo lunghe sperimentazioni tese alla ricerca di un mezzo di riproduzione fotomeccanica dell'immagine, nel 1869 Michele, insieme con i figli, riuscì a mettere a punto un sistema fotolitografico (poi chiamato fototipia) di grande e raffinata qualità nella resa dei grigi. Ne dà notizia L'Osservatore romano del 29 dicembre... " (Treccani, che poi menziona questo album, dichiarando però 30 vedute). Censito a Trieste, e alla Bibl. Naz. di Spagna. Pur incompleto, costituisce un raro documento di prima mano, di un procedimento pionieristico della riproduzione delle fotografie.‎

‎KOP toont een opeenvolging van schilderijen, tekeningen, collages, assemblages die onderling enorm verschillen. Zowel de uitdrukkingswijze, de technische uitvoering als de geladenheid van de vijftien maal zes objecten lopen sterk uiteen. Al deze fantasie n zijn ontsproten aan het brein van n en dezelfde persoon: kunstenaar Dani l Op de Beeck. Hij is de schepper van deze bizarre wereld vol vreemde en bevreemdende wezens, de ontwerper, de uitvinder van al deze fantastische koppen tussen humor en horror. Toch legt hij zichzelf ook grenzen op: alle beelden hebben hetzelfde formaat (30 x 50 cm) en hetzelfde onderwerp, een kop en hij plaatst zijn figuratief oeuvre binnen een fantastisch-realistisch referentiekader. Zijn fantasie lijkt onuitputtelijk, zijn creatief vermogen veelzijdig en onbeperkt, voortdurend balancerend op de grens tussen droom en werkelijkheid. Hij bouwt zich een klein universum uit dat teruggrijpt naar vroegere culturen maar evenzeer sciencefiction-elementen in zich draagt. Hij weet hoe hij elke kop moet omtoveren van nature morte tot tableau vivant.‎
