Die aus Wien stammende Sängerin studierte nach einer ersten Ausbildung am Konservatorium der Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde auf Anraten von Johannes Brahms an der Hochschule in Berlin, wo eine intensive Liebesbeziehung zwischen ihr und Eugenie Schumann, der Tochter von Clara und Robert Schumann, ihren Anfang nahm; ab 1878 lebte "Fillu" auch längere Zeit bei den Schumanns. "Fillunger debütierte schon während ihrer Studienzeit mit großem Erfolg als Oratoriensängerin in Norddeutschland und trat später in Holland, in der Schweiz und 1889 in London auf" (ÖBL I, 315). Anschließend nach London übersiedelnd, wurde sie dort vor allem als Interpretin der Lieder von Schubert und Brahms bekannt, unternahm Konzerttourneen nach Australien und Südamerika und unterrichtete von 1904 bis 1912 am Royal College of Music in Manchester. Nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg lebte sie in der Schweiz.

A letter of safe conduct issued to the Jewish merchant Jassé Crémieu from the city of Carpentras, valid for a period of six months, during which presentation of this document will prevent Crémieu's arrest by his creditors in Avignon. Said creditors can still have Crémieu summoned and sentenced under criminal law, but only after the six-month period has passed: "Pour Raisons à nous connues, nous accordons à Jassé Crémieu neg[ocian]t juif de la ville de Carpentras sauf conduit et assurance de sa personne pendant le terme de six mois [...] il sera néan-moins permis aux dites créanciers de faire assigner le dite Cremieu et d'obtenir des sentences contrôlées, lesquelles ne pourront être exécutées contre Sa personne pendant lesdites six mois, si terrent pour cause criminelles [...]". - "A group of seven creditors of the Jewish community of Carpentras sued Jassé-Haïn Crémieu, son of the rich former syndic Jassuda-David Crémieu, who was the guarantor for many loans contracted by the former Jewish community. Crémieu was naturalized as French citizen settled in 1785 in Arles. In the year VII his son argued that the naturalization released his father and heirs from any individual responsibility to the creditors of the Jewish community of Carpentras. This argument was so weak that Jassé-Hain Crémieu was ready to turn over to the seven creditors six houses valued before 1789 at 40,000 livres which he owned in the Carpentras ghetto" (Zosa Szajkowski, Jews and the French Revolutions of 1789, 1830 and 1848 [New York, 1970], p. 646). - The rubrum on the verso states that the passport was based on the one accorded by the king. Extremeties slightly browned, with traces of old folds.

4to and oblong 12mo. ½ p. on bifolium and 2 lines. The letter with autograph address and seal. Both to the notary Balthazar Vigne, who served as the last registrar and state secretary of Avignon. In the letter, Filomarino della Rocca thanks his subordinate for Christmas wishes and offers his own in return: "Je vous remercie des vœux, que vous avez bien voulu faire pour moi. Agréez a votre tour ceux, que je fais pour vous, et pour tout ce qui peut vous interesser [...]". In the note, the vice legate asks Vigne to return a document to a Carmelite friar. - Avignon was ruled by Papal legates since 1433, thirty years after the last antipope Benedict XIII had been expelled from the city. From 1542, vice legates took over the actual administration of the enclave. Pope Alexander VIII was the last legate of Avignon at his death in 1691, as the rule of Avignon was subsequently shifted to the vice legates. Jacques Filomarino della Rocca served as the penultimate vice legate of Avignon before its annexation by revolutionary France in 1790/91. - The letter shows a tear from breaking the seal. Minor stains and browning.

4to. 2 pp. on bifolium. To Antoine des Bertrand de Pelissier, seigneur d'Eyroles, concerning the death of his elder brother and the inheritance of the fiefdom of Eyroles. The letter is to remind the recipient of his duty to ask officially for recognition of his inheritance and to swear an oath of allegiance before the Apostolic chamber of the Comtat Venaissin in Carpentras within a certain period that was nearing its end. In view of the old age and infirmities of the recipient, Filomarino della Rocca offers him to just sign the oath instead of having to go to Carpentras: "Remonte que par le decés de Messire Jean François Betrand de Pelissier son frère la terre et seigneurie d'Eyrolles au Comtat Venaissin a passé sur sa tête sans qu'il aye encore prêté hommage à la R[évéren]de Chambre. Le tems porté pour le droit est sur le point d'expirer, et à même peut-être expiré. L'age du supliant [!] et ses infirmités l'ont empêché de se rendre en la ville de Carpentras pour y prêter hommage [...]". - The Comtats Venaissin and Avignon were ruled by the Papal legates of Avignon since 1433, thirty years after the last antipope Benedict XIII had been expelled from the city. Oblong folio. 1 p. Mounted on parchment. Passport for a pilgrimage from Avignon to Rome issued to the farrier Joseph Deville, aged 25 years. Several notes and a signature by local authorities, including two stamps, attest to the pilgrimage. On 4 April Deville passed through Loreto, finally reaching Rome on 26 April 1783. - Avignon was ruled by Papal legates since 1433, thirty years after the last antipope Benedict XIII had been expelled from the city. From 1542, vice legates took over the actual administration of the enclave. Pope Alexander VIII was the last legate of Avignon at his death in 1691, as the rule of Avignon was subsequently shifted to the vice legates. Jacques Filomarino della Rocca served as the penultimate vice legate of Avignon before its annexation by revolutionary France in 1790/91. - With a crayon mark, old water damage and several tears. Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original b/w photograph. (14 x 9 cm). Autograph signed by Tevfik's son Said Riza Bölükbasi, who was a Turkish intellectual and author. Riza Tevfik Bey was a Turkish philosopher, poet, politician of liberal signature and a community leader (for some members among the Bektashi community) of the late-19th-century and early-20th-century. A polyglot, he is most remembered in Turkey for being one of the four Ottoman signatories of the disastrous Treaty of Sèvres, for which reason he was included in 1923 among the 150 personae non gratae of Turkey, and he spent 20 years in exile until he was given amnesty by Turkey in 1943. In this photo, Riza Tevfik with his masonic sign pin. Resna photography studio was a first Muslim Turkish photograph studio founded by Bahaettin Rahmi Ediz, (1875-1951). This is a rare autograph.
