Mais je souhaitais ajouter - comment dire - quelque chose de pratique à mon admiration...” Il lui propose de réediter ce livre chez un ami, Jean-louis Clavé, nouvel éditeur qui a créé L’Atelier des Brisants avec comme diffuseur Harmonia Mundi. Il n’a pu fournir à Clavé un exemplaire de Socialisme romantique et lui demande s’il peut lui en prêter un et lui envoyer l’exemplaire... D’autres projets pourraient être aussi envisagés. Il le remercie enfin de l’envoi de La Magie sexuelle qu’il se dispose à lire bientôt.

Da den gelernten Juristen das Theater mehr und mehr anzog, wandte er sich diesem zur Gänze zu und brachte "unter dem Namen Nuitter im Théatre du Palais-Royal [1852] sein erstes Werk, 'L'Amour dans un ophicléide, zur Aufführung. Vierzig Jahre lang verwandte er dieses Pseudonym für eine stattliche Reihe von Werken ernsten und heiteren Charakters, von denen die meisten in Zusammenarbeit mit Alexandre Beaumèe, genannt Beaumont, entstanden. Nuitters Vorliebe galt dem Opern- und opèra comique-Libretto; er arbeitete mit Offenbach, Verdi und Lecoq zusammen. Als erster richtete er Wagners Werke für die französische Bühne ein, zu der kleinen Gruppe von Franzosen zählend, die von Anfang an ihre Bedeutung erkannten. 8vo. 1½ pp. To a music journalist, informing him that he has not yet received research drafts or notes, and offering his support for an unspecified musical biography and general index: "Je n'ai rien reçu! Vous me dites qu'une partie de vos notes s'était égarée; j'espère qu'il n'en aura pas été de même du reste et qu'à votre retour il vous sera facile de les retrouver. Je serai très heureux sie je puis contribuer au succès de vos recherches; tout est à faire en matière de Bibliographie musicale et l'inventaire sommaire par lequel vous voulez commencer sera à lui seul un travail bien utile qui rendra de grands services [...]". - Trained as a lawyer, the theatre enthusiast Nuitter started writing librettos for vaudevilles, opéras comiques, operettas and ballets in the 1850s. It is estimated that he wrote or co-authored some 500 theatrical pieces, including libretti for several works by Offenbach, the scenario for Léo Delibes' ballet "Coppélia", and pieces by Hervé, Guiraud, Lalo, Lecocq and others. Nuitter also established himself as a translator of librettos. His translations were highly esteemed by Wagner and Verdi, whom he assisted over the revision of "Don Carlos" 1882/83. In 1863 Nuitter quit his job as a lawyer to work in the archives of the Paris Opera. He became official archivist in 1866 and successfully catalogued the existing archive, saved many important documents from destruction, and greatly expanded the collection during his term. - On stationery with printed letterhead of the archives of the Paris Opera. Amicable letters to colleagues and friends in support of their artistic careers. - To the composer Léo Delibes (1836-91) about Auguste Vaucorbeil (1821-84) wishing to obtain the music to their 1870 ballet "Coppélia", emphasizing Vacourbeil's influence on opera productions: "Vaucorbeil m'a exprimé hier le plaisir qu'il aurait à tenir de vous une partition de Coppelia. Vous savez que Vaucorbeil, commissaire du Gouvernement près les Théâtres subventionnés, n'est pas sans influence sur la choix des compositeurs joués à l'opéra [...]" (no place, "Saturday"). - To the composer Louis-Etienne-Ernest Reyer (1823-1909), who had set the sonnet "Le Fleuve d'oubli" by the theatre manager and librettist Camille du Locle (1832-1903) to music in 1899, announcing several copies to be sent to du Locle, promising to inform the same of Reyer's high regard for his latest work and his looking forward to again setting to music an equally poetic sonnet: "Vous devez avoir reçu des exemplaires du Fleuve d'oubli, choisis dans des tonalités différentes. Camille aussi va en recevoir. Je ne manquerai pas de lui dire, dans ma prochaine lettre, combien le dernier sonnet vous a paru réussi et le desir que vous avez d'écrire le plus tôt possible la musique d'un nouveau sonnet aussi poétique [...]" (15 Feb. [1899]). On headed stationery of the "Ministère de l'Instruction publique". - To a friend about his vain efforts to discover any information on the composer Johann Beer (1655-1700), mentioning that the title of one of his works might aid further research, letting him know that the birth certificate of the singer Eugène Caron (1834-1903) is not preserved in the opera archives, and giving a short description of Caron's life: "J'ai tardé à vous écrire, parce que j'aurais voulu répondre à vos deux questions, et, jusqu'à présent, je n'ai rien pu trouver de précis sur le compositeur H. Beer, mort depuis longtemps, me dites vous. Si vous pouviez m'indiquer une de ses oeuvres, je ferais bien volontiers de nouvelles recherches. Je ne possède pas, dans nos archives, l'acte de naissance de Mr. Caron. Voici toutefois les renseignements qui m'ont été donnés à l'opéra: Caron, Eugène Charles, né à Rouen [...]" (16 Nov. 1889). Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) Original manuscript autograph letter signed by Numan Menemencioglu, (1893-1958), as 'Hariciye Müstesâri', addressed to Ahmed Ihsan Bey [Tokgöz], (1868-1942), who was a Turkish publisher, translator. 20x14 cm. In Ottoman script. 1 p. on bifolium. Fourteen lines with extra autograph annotations. Hüseyin Numan Menemencioglu was a Turkish diplomat and politician. His father, Rifat, from the Aydin Province (west Turkey), was a civil servant and a Minister of Finance in the Ottoman Empire. His mother Feride, of Albanian origin, was the daughter of Namik Kemal, a well-known 19th-century intellectual. During his father's various service places, he was born in Baghdad (now in Iraq), graduated from the junior high school in Thessaloniki (now in Greece), and graduated from the high school in Istanbul. Then he traveled abroad to study in the law school of Lausanne University. After graduation, he began serving in the foreign office of the Ottoman Empire. After the occupation of Istanbul by the Allies of World War I, he began serving for the newly founded Turkey. He served in Bern, Bucharest, Budapest, and Beirut. After 1929 he was appointed as the secretary-general of the Ministry. He was a brilliant diplomat and he participated in such negotiations as the Straits issue (Treaty of Montreux) and Hatay issue (Hatay Republic). He went into politics and was elected as the Republican People's Party MP from Gaziantep Province. Between 9 July 1942 and 16 June 1944, in the 13th and the 14th government of Turkey, he was appointed as the Foreign Minister of Turkey. His term coincides with the Second World War. After politics, he resumed his diplomatic mission and was appointed as the ambassador to Paris and then Lisbon. After retirement, he returned to politics in the 1957 general elections and was elected as a Democrat Party MP from Istanbul Province.

Very Good Turkish Original autograph letter signed 'Nuri Abaç'. 22x16 cm. In Turkish. 1 p. Letter includes 8 lines. Recipient name is Mehmet. He could be 'Mehmet Güreli (?)'. Dated 21.3.1974. He mentions Turkish short story writer Bedii Demirseren and that he sent Demirseren's story to Mehmet. He added Bedii's address to the end of the letter. Abaç graduated from Istanbul Fine Arts Academy in 1944. He opened his first exhibition in Mersin, then in Venice and Monaco. He was among the founders of the United Painters and Sculptors Association of Turkey. He worked with Leopold Levy. In his paintings before 1970, he portrayed the legendary and mythological creatures of Anatolian culture in a fairy-tale and surrealistic-fantastic style.
