As Treasurer of the United States during the Eisenhower administration 1953-61 Priest's printed signature appeared on many millions of pieces of U.S. currency. Full signature on her 3�" X 2" business card Sacramento CA n.y. Near fine. Small smudge to "t" in "Priest"; small show-through at upper center from tiny tape stain on verso. Handsome card as California state treasurer a position she held from 1967 until her death bearing the gold state seal at upper left. Uncommon in this form and accompanied by a 7" X 9" glossy black-and-white news agency photograph a March 8 1953 closeup of her handing a one dollar bill to another woman with original paper label affixed to verso describing the scene: "U.S. Treasurer Ivy Baker Priest left presents a dollar bill bearing her autograph to director Alma K. Schneider of the U.S. Mint at Denver during an inspection trip. The one-dollar bill is one of the first printing to bear signatures of GOP treasurer and secretary of the treasury in 20 years." Very good. A bit edgeworn with small closed tear at upper margin. A nice very displayable pair. unknown

This Spanish jurist and politician served as prime minister briefly several times; also served as minister of the Interior 1905-06 minister of Justice 1905-06 minister of Public Works 1906-10 minister of State 1910-12 and president of the Council of Ministers 1912-23. DS 2pp recto and verso 8�" X 12" Madrid Spain 1913 April 15. Very good. Titled in Spanish "Court of First Instance of This City" this partly-printed document is a "Sentence Extract" and reports that 48-year-old former banker Sergio Beliavsky a Russian from St. Petersburg was found guilty of murdering 37-year-old jeweler Alejandro Petrovicz from Odessa. He is sentenced to five years in prison payment of court costs 1987 pesetas 40 centimes and restitution to Petrovicz's family 12000 pesetas. At lower left above the circular red inkstamp of the "Tribunal Correccional de 1a. Instancia Madrid" Prieto as president of this court signs large and bold in brown ink. Heidi Zach herzlichst gewidmet”. - Herbert Prikopa war fast 40 Jahre lang an der Wiener Volksoper tätig, wo er über 90 Hauptpartien, mehrheitlich in Operetten, aber auch in Opern sang. 1985 trat er erstmals an der Wiener Staatsoper in ‘The Rake's Progress’ und später in der ‘Zauberflöte’ als Monostatos auf. Daneben vielfältig als Dirigent, Komponist, Kabarettist, Schauspieler, Rundfunk- und Fernsehmoderator beschäftigt, verfaßte Prikopa auch zwei Bücher über die Geschichte der Wiener Volksoper.

This German Luftwaffe fighter ace and Knight's Cross recipient flew 1307 combat missions and is credited with 101 downed enemy aircraft on the Western front -- but Cornelius Ryan's book "The Longest Day" and the film version brought additional fame and notoriety depicting his strafing pass attack at Sword Beach on D-Day 6 June 1944. Rare PS 4�" X 6" n.p. ny. Very good. Sepia-tone reproduction of a striking half-length painting of Priller in uniform with Knight's Cross thumb hooked into his coat Napoleon style. This 2�" X 3�"image has been mounted to a heavy stock round-cornered card and Priller signs huge and bold his usual "Priller" in black ink below his image. Undated but likely of late 1940s vintage. Quite unusual and quite scarce. unknown

Ich habe demnach für die 20 Platten (denn für die 4 ersten verlange ich nichts) die Unterschriften, jede mit f. 2 ausgelegt, und das für die gleich anfangs gemachten Abdrucke dazugegebene Papier beträgt f. 6. - Mein Guthaben beträgt daher f. 46 [...]". - Johann Georg Primavesi arbeitete zunächst als Theatermaler in Mannheim, ging dann ans Darmstädter Hoftheater und stand zu jener Zeit im Austausch mit Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. 1822 wechselte er als Hofmaler zum Kurfürsten von Hessen-Kassel, wo er bis zu seinem Lebensende blieb. Primavesi erstellte für das Theater zahlreiche Kulissen und Prospekte, daneben schuf er Radierungen und Aquarelle mit Landschaftsmotiven. - Mit starken Randläsuren und einigen größeren Randeinrissen.

8vo. 1¼ pp. Together with a portrait photograph. To Lord Frederick Cavendish (1836-82), then Financial Secretary to the Treasury: "My dear Cavendish - Many thanks. I think my uncle's position very fair. Could you not send one of your men down to enquire into the possibility of what I propose. It seems very anomalous that fisheries and the fine arts should be inseparably connected in Scotland! But all that I propose is that the Board should extend their benevolent care to salmon as well as herrings - Would you dine with me Wednesday March 1; on second thoughts I know you cannot because of the Speaker's dinner [...]". - Lord Cavendish was appointed Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland later that year. On 6 May 1882, the day he took his office in Dublin, Cavendish and the Lord Lieutenant Earl Spencer were assassinated by Irish nationalists. - On stationery with embossed letterhead "Secretary Of State / Home Department". Somewhat duststained and slightly spotty. Traces of former mounting on reverse.
