A volume of particular interest consisting of 60 pages on which are inscribed fair copies of 14 sporting poems songs and parodies presumably in the hand of the author the final entry dated Feb. 17 1864. These are replete with local and topical allusions and proper names "And tho' Britannia still may hold / Dominion o'er the sea / The gates and roads belong I'm told / To Mrs. Coventry." Various hunts are named "The Southern wind blew sharp and cold / The winter sun shown clear / When the Rufford Hounds with Percy bold / Call all from far and near.". The verses are robust with lots of quotes and exclamation points and appear to be unpublished. Pasted in at the end is a lengthy hunting poem of similiar nature cut from a newspaper but as it is signed "Prudence" it is of scant help in suggesting the identity of the author of this jolly collection.<br/><br/>UNIQUE. unknown books
