In 1983 ontving Humo de Gold Award voor een door Ever Meulen ontworpen cover rond het thema: De paus in Polen, waarop paus Johannes-Paulus II met de snor van Lech Walensa werd afgebeeld. Een door Meulen ontworpen cover voor het Amerikaanse tijdschrift Raw kreeg een Certificate of Design Excellence. Her work is related to documentary photography and is usually the result of a long-term study of a specific subject. The work presented in this book arises when Wessels discovers the wonderful universe of traditional garages: she becomes fascinated by the shapes and colors of the mysterious and unknown objects she finds there. Wessels then travels the world to create poetic still lifes in exotic garages with her analog camera. At first glance, the interiors of garages in Cambodia, Cuba, Italy, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland, Turkey, Russia, South Africa, Japan and Sri Lanka seem to contain the same elements, but small details - only visible to a patient and trained eye - pointing out cultural differences. Wessels then points her camera outwards, towards the immediate vicinity of the old garages. There she is struck by the nature that she finds in the rough, industrial landscapes on the outskirts of the cities. In some cases, rampant nature takes over from industry, overgrowing the garages that try to survive. The photographic result is picturesque images with a surprising color palette. At the same time, they testify to a disappearing, mainly male world that is gradually being supplanted by new, sterile technologies.‎

‎One day in early 1960, the French consulate in Detroit organised a cocktail party. Because of his knowledge of the French language, designer Henry De S gur Lauve was invited along as an interpreter. At the party, he met Pierre Bercot, general manager of Citro n. They got talking about Citro n design and Bercot invited De S gur Lauve for a meeting in Paris. That conversation went positively and in May 1960 De S gur Lauve signed a cooperation agreement with Citro n to produce design proposals that suited the taste of American consumers. From then on, De S gur Lauve came out with a fair number of sketches with a decidedly American influence for new models. The first designs are still sometimes reminiscent of facelifted DSs, but soon they look more like spacecraft than cars for everyday use. De S gur Lauve had access to Citro n?s design studio and could see what the designers were working on, which allowed him to create ?Americanised? variants based on those models. Examples found in this book include proposals for the later Citro n CX and the interior of the Citro n SM. Much of De S gur Lauves spectacular designs ended up in the Citro n archives and were forgotten. After more than 50 years, this book showcases his work prominently for the first time.
