‎Very Good Turkish Original three hand-drawn three-strip cartoon plates of 'Utanmaz Adam' character with Indian ink on paper. Paper lacked on cardboard. 16x37 cm. 11 panels on 3 papers totally. B/w. By Indian drawing ink. No signature. Oguz Aral was a Turkish political cartoonist and comics artist, known for his satirical style. He was also active as a theatre designer, playwright, ceramist, and animator, establishing the first Turkish animation studio. Born in Silivri, Istanbul Province, he founded the cartoon magazine Girgir (Fun) with his brother Tekin Aral and created such characters as "Avanak Avni" (Avni the Gullible), "Köstebek Hüsnü" (Hüsnü the Mole), "Utanmaz Adam" (the Shameless Man) and "Vites Mahmut" (Mahmut the Gearbox). GirGir was one of the best selling cartoon magazines in Europe in the 1970s with nearly a million copies a week. Called the "godfather" of Turkish cartoonists, Aral mentored scores of young artists, helping them publish their comics. GirGir, known to be outstandingly critical of all social ills, was banned after the 1980 military coup, but Oguz Aral's cartoons still ran in the newspaper Hürriyet until his death in Bodrum.‎

‎N.Scheuring, Editeur ( Imprimerie Perrin & Marinet) In-8, cousu, XX- 93 pages, reliure postérieure sobre ( C.Ruban à Villefranche) entoilée brique ornée d'une étiquette de titre noire et d'un fleuron doré sur la tranche, plats muets, exemplaire portant l'Ex-libris du second acquerreur de l'ouvrage, le premier étant selon toute vraisemblance Morel de Voleine signant en garde sa propriété (attesté) - Bel exemplaire dans une reliure sans grand apparat mais de belle facture, belle fraicheur de la pagination et coins bien piquants.‎

‎Rare exemplaire- Moniale chartreusine, prieure de la Chartreuse Notre-Dame de Poleteins (à Mionnay, Ain ; moniale à partir de 1286 au moins prieure à partir de 1288 au moins ; morte le 11 février 1310, ou peut-être 1311, elle écrivit en dialecte Lyonnais et en latin. Marguerite est la fille de Guichard, seigneur d'Oingt (Rhône) : le nom d'Oingt peut donc être considéré comme son patronyme.Les écrits de Marguerite d'Oingt sont surtout connus grâce au recueil fait à la Grande Chartreuse au XIVe siècle (Grenoble, Bibliothèque municipale, ms. 5785 R).Autres mss contenant les écrits de Marguerite (en tout ou en partie) : Grenoble, ms. 5786 R (XVIIe siècle ; version française) d'où semble venir cette édition ; Grande Chartreuse, ms. 66 b ou 7 ORNA 5 (XVIIe siècle ; version française) ; ms. provençal (voir <<Bibliographie des manuscrits littéraires en ancien provençal / Clovis Brunel, 1935, n° 185 . ‎An den Augsburger Konservator Johann Andreas Eigner (1801-1870) in Hannover, den er gerne treffen würde: "[...] leider aber würde ich selbst, im Begriffe nach Preußen auf längere Zeit vereisen, darauf verzichten müssen; ebenso ist Herr Geheime Regierungs-Rath Waagen schon nach Pommern und Rügen verreist. Indessen würden Sie immer die Herren Professoren Hotho, Profesor Keller u. a. hier finden. Ihre gefällige, sehr interessante Mitteilung vom 24. Juni über den von Ihnen erfundenen besseren Firnis für Gemälde, wie alles, was von einem so bewährten Künstler besonderes im Fache der Restauration kommt, konnte mir nur sehr willkommen sein [...]" - Olfers wurde 1839 auf Vermittlung von Wilhelm von Humboldt und seinem Bruder Alexander zum Generaldirektor der Königlichen Museen in Berlin ernannt. Er war einer der engsten Vertrauten des preußischen Königs Friedrich Wilhelm IV. und für diesen neben Alexander von Humboldt wichtigster Verbindungsmann zu den Naturwissenschaften und den Schönen Künsten. Olfers plante und entwarf mit dem Architekten Friedrich August Stüler den Umbau der Museumsinsel in Berlin.‎

‎Manuscript - ALS - Scottish Novelist & Historical Writer‎

‎Scotland, circa 1850s. Manuscript signed note by Scottish novelist Margaret Oliphant (1828-1897), penned on her own stationery which bears a curious dragon and cross insignia incorporating her first name. The recipient may be the wife of Robert A. Purdie, publisher for The Scottish Minstrel issued in Edinburgh. Single leaf measuring approximately 8,5 x 13 cm, written recto only. Very good condition with original signature. The letter reads as follows: "Dear Mrs. Purdie Pardon me for not replying at once. I only returned yesterday afternoon from a short absence. Tired. It will give me great pleasure to dine with you on Monday. Very truly yours, [signed] M.O.W. Oliphant Thursday morning" Margaret Oliphant Wilson Oliphant (1828-1897), was a Scottish novelist and historical writer. In 1849 she had her first novel published: "Passages in the Life of Mrs. Margaret Maitland". In 1851 she met publisher William Blackwood in Edinburgh and was invited to contribute to the famous Blackwood's Magazine. The connection was to last for her whole lifetime, during which she contributed well over 100 articles, including a critique of the character of Arthur Dimmesdale in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Scarlet Letter". In 1852 she married, and by 1859 she had become a popular writer, working tirelessly to sustain her position. Unfortunately, her home life was full of sorrow, having been widowed and having lost three of her six children. In January 1864 her only remaining daughter Maggie died in Rome, leaving her with two sons. In 1866 she settled at Windsor to be near her sons who were being educated at Eton. From Windsor, she continued a varied literary career including works of supernatural fiction, and in the 1880s she became the mentor of the Irish novelist Emily Lawless.‎
