- Paris s.d. [novembre 1853?], 10x13,6cm, un feuillet et son enveloppe dépliée. - Lettre autographe signée "votre G." adressée à Georges Bell, rédigée à l'encre bleue au recto d'un petit feuillet. Enveloppe autographe dépliée jointe contenant une phrase que Nerval n'avait pas mise dans sa lettre. Cette lettre a été retranscrite dans la Pléiade, tome 1, lettre 264. Après plusieurs rendez-vous manqués et alors qu'il se trouve à la clinique du Docteur Blanche, Nerval demande à George Bell de ne "[se] préoccupe[r] pas trop de l'affaire de Passy". Malgré son enfermement, Nerval continue à mener ses affaires : "Je conçois un projet ou système d'emprunt qui a quelques chances de réussite - mais il faut que j'engage très sérieusement ma signature." - s.l. [1837 ou 1849], 9,9x14,3cm, une page sur un feuillet, enveloppe jointe. - Lettre autographe signée "votre bien dévoué Gérard" adressée à Daniel Rouy. Enveloppe jointe. Cette lettre, simplement datée "Le 12" pourrait avoir été rédigée en août 1849, si l'on se réfère à une lettre à Ernesta Grisi, compagne de son ami Théophile Gautier, dans laquelle, le poète évoque un tel escompte : "Je n'ai pu toucher l'argent qu'aujourd'hui mercredi. M. Rouy n'y était pas. J'y suis allé 4 fois et j'ai porté les 10F. aujourd'hui, je ne sais pas s'il faut faire le prochain feuilleton ni comment il faut signer." (Pléiade, tome 1, lettre 143 du 30 août 1849). Cependant Michel Brix, auteur de Nerval, Glanes et miettes de presse et membre de l'Académie Royale de Langue et de Littérature Françaises de Belgique, nous a très obligement fait remarquer que Nerval signait "Gérard" plutôt entre 1837 et 1840 et qu'en 1849, il signait ce genre de billets "Gérard de Nerval". - Paris 23 septembre 1853, 9,7x14,5cm, une page sur un feuillet, enveloppe jointe. - Lettre autographe signée "votre ami Gérard" adressée à Joseph Méry. Enveloppe présentant un petit manque angulaire, inhérent au cachetage, jointe. Pliures transversales. Cette lettre a été transcrite dans la correspondance éditée à la Pléiade (tome 3, p. 811). "Envoyez vite à Théo ce qui est imprimé de la pièce. Il fera de grandes citations surtout le Serpent." La "pièce" en question est Gusman le Brave créée à l'Odéon le 23 septembre 1853. - s.l. [1837 ou 1849], 13,4x9,4cm, un petit billet. - Reçu autographe signé "Gérard" : "J'ai reçu de M. Rouy la somme de 10F à compte. Gérard. Ce 27". Daniel Rouy était gérant et caissier du journal La Presse. Deux traces de pliure transversales. Cette reconnaissance de dette, simplement datée "ce 7" pourrait avoir été rédigée en août 1849, si l'on se réfère à une lettre à Ernesta Grisi, compagne de son ami Théophile Gautier, dans laquelle, le poète évoque une telle créance : "Je n'ai pu toucher l'argent qu'aujourd'hui mercredi. M. Rouy n'y était pas. J'y suis allé 4 fois aujourd'hui..." (Pléiade, tome 1, lettre 143 du 30 août 1849). - Paris s.d. (fin 1852), 10,2x13,2cm, quatre pages sur un feuillet remplié. - Lettre autographe signée "ton ami G." adressée au poète et dramaturge Armand Barthet. Nerval félicite "[son] cher ami" pour son drame Le Chemin de Corinthe : "Non seulement je l'ai lu mais je l'ai recommandé chaudement à Delord et à Huard. C'est très beau (ceci est vague) mais c'est même nouveau". Pliures inhérente à la mise sous pli. Une bande de papier à la jonction des deux pages et une restauration en marge intérieure gauche. Cette lettre a été retranscrite dans la correspondance publiée à la Pléiade (tome 3, p. 796). Le destinataire a rédigé, directement à la suite de cette lettre une émouvante notice biographique concernant Gérard de Nerval : "Nul ne savait où il demeurait - il rodait toute la nuit, les poches de sa longue redingote, gonflé (sic) de bouquins". - Paris 11 février 1844, 10,4x13,6cm, quatre pages sur deux feuillets. - Trois lettres autographes signées par Gérard de Nerval (2 pages signées «?Gérard?»), Théophile Gautier (1 page) et un troisième scripteur qui n'a pas signé (1 page), adressées à Louis Desessart. La troisième lettre a été rédigée par un certain «?Robert?» (cf. la lettre de Nerval) Louis Desessart, éditeur attitré de Théophile Gautier, publia avec Barba la pièce Léo Burckart de Nerval en 1839. À la suite d'ennuis financiers, il fut contraint de se réfugier «?dans cette triste et charmante ville de Bruxelles?». Les trois amis rédigent ce courrier à Paris, où ils se sont retrouvés au retour du long voyage en Orient qu'entreprit Nerval?: «?J'ai vu l'Égypte 6 mois?; puis j'ai séjourné en Syrie 3 mois - à Constantinople 4 mois le reste en route. C'est assez beau. Je ne m'amuse plus qu'en voyage et je vis double autant que je puis.?» Ce voyage force l'admiration de Théophile Gautier qui ne se rendra que des années plus tard en Turquie et en Egypte?: «?Je suis à Paris et voudrais être au Caire d'où Gérard arrive.?» L'exotisme des voyages lointains contraste ici violemment avec la tristesse et l'austérité de l'Europe?: «?Quelle tristesse que Paris quand on revient des pays éclairés du soleil.?» (Nerval) D'autant plus que, loin des rêves d'évasion, Paris rime avec travail et mélancolie?: «?Nous sommes comme les gens malades qui ne se trouvent bien nulle part. Je crois que le bon temps est passé et que les bonnes heures d'autrefois où nous disions tant de sages folies ne reviendront plus. À quoi sert de vivre puisqu'il faut travailler et qu'on ne peut ni voir ses amis ni leur écrire ni rien faire de ce qu'on voudrait ??» (Gautier) Les deux écrivains sont très compatissants quant à l'exil belge de leur ami, Bruxelles apparaissant ici comme la capitale du spleen?: «?Quoi?! Vous êtes encore dans cette triste et charmante ville de Bruxelles?! [INTERESTING ARCHIVE OF AN INTELLECTUAL OTTOMAN/TURKISH WOMAN] [A manuscript diary, letters to and from, documents, notebooks of an intellectual late Ottoman/early Republican woman].
Very Good Turkish, Ottoman (1500-1928) The collection includes one full diary, 4 notebooks, 120 letters addressed to Nevin Pertev Demirhan and Meryem Ana Efes ruins photo negatives in an envelope, and ID cards, court documents of Demirhan family (Father Pertev Pasha, brother Ömer Ilhan Demirhan, and mother Hatice Leman Demirhan). 4 notebooks of her from "English High for Girls, Constantinople" including the lessons of dictation, rough notebook, setback, essays, and letters. All notebooks are in English. Also, there are letters addressed to Fatma Behçet Hanim. Diary includes [336] p. with full of writings between the dates August 4, 1955 (Thursday) and November 24, 1955 (Thursday). This collection contains an Ottoman / Turkish intellectual woman's political thoughts, social life, travels, recipes, and friendships in a short time in 1955. A hardcover manuscript diary and letters to and from her. Letters have very interesting correspondences in the mostly Ottoman script as well as in modern Turkish, English, French, and German. One of the letters addressed to her (Ömer Ilhan Demirhan's letter) and some others include very interesting thoughts about women and femininity. Ömer Ilhan told her that he wants to be married and that did not find a suitable wife for himself. Some of the letters in this collection like that have very important and interesting hints for "Turkish women". Letters dated usually from the 1930s to the 1950s. Nevin Pertev Demirhan was an intellectual and translator as well as pianist according to 'Türkischer Biographischer Index'. She translated her father's book titled 'Islam' into English with her father. Her father was Sait Pertev Demirhan who was an important Turkish soldier, intellectual, and politician.

Letter/document sent to H[asan] Resit Tankut, (1891-1980), who was a Turkish historian and statesman when Tankut was a director of TDK (Türk Dil Kurumu [i.e. Turkish Language Society]). The letter says his thanks for Tankut's book titled 'Introduction to Turkish Linguistic Union' that he sent to Tandogan. Tandogan was the fourth mayor and governor of Ankara serving between 1929 and 1946. He committed suicide upon a political scandal he was involved in. Abdullah Nevzat Tandogan was born into a wealthy family in 1894 in Istanbul, then Ottoman Empire. His father was from Sarajevo and his mother from Belgrade. He completed his education at Istanbul Law School, today Istanbul University Faculty of Law. After the Surname Law was enacted in Turkey in 1934, he adopted the family name Tandogan. He was married and had two children. During World War I, he served as an intelligence officer in the Ottoman Army in Istanbul. In the later years of the war, he began a career as a school teacher in Istanbul. In 1918, he entered police service. After serving at leading posts in various police departments, he quit. He became Governor of Malatya in 1925 before he entered politics from the Republican People's Party) (CHP) and was elected into the Grand National Assembly as deputy of Konya in the 1927 general election. On November 4, 1929, he resigned from his parliamentary seat to take office as Governor of Ankara. Serving also as the acting city mayor, he was uninterrupted 17 years long in this position. Tandogan was a civil servant and politician of the single-party era (1923-1945). The political philosophy of the era was understood so as "the government has the authority to determine and to do what is useful and best for the country, knowing better than everyone, especially the folk". Tandogan's political attitude is described best with his words he said to a young man as "We constitute Communism in this country if it is necessary". Tandogan had a dissenting opinion to the 1929 Jansen Plan by German architect and urban planner Hermann Jansen(1869-1945). The plan proposed the integration of green belts and areas within the rapid-growing new capital of the newly established Republic for promoting a healthy urban environment. The realization of Ankara's master plan as different from the Jansen Plan is his practice. In 1945, a murder occurred in Ankara, which became known as the "Ankara Murder" (Turkish: Ankara Cinayeti). Tandogan was accused of intentionally and deliberately covering the murder case, in which Hasmet Orbay, the son of the then Chief of the General Staff Kâzim Orbay, was involved. Tandogan was summoned to court to testify after the case was discussed in a question time in the parliament. It was believed that calling a high-ranked civil servant or politician to the witness stand in a court trial was unthinkable during the single-party era before 1945. The next day, on July 9, 1946, Nevzat Tandogan committed suicide by shooting himself at home with a firearm. The main square in Ankara, which hosted many political party rallies and protests, was named in his honor. In 2012, the city council of the metropolitan municipality changed the square's initial name from "Nevzat Tandogan Square" to "Tandogan Square". A public park in Batikent neighborhood of Yenimahalle, Ankara as well as a street in Kavaklidere neighborhood of Çankaya, Ankara is also named after him.
