Dickens Charles introduction by Walter Allen
A CHRISTMAS CAROL - with - THE CHIMES
New York: Harper Perennial 1965. xviii 158 pp. Both titles in a single volume. Blue cloth decorated in gilt on the front panel and spine; blue endpapers. Light edge and corner wear on the dustjacket; price clipped; no interior markings. Just as a matter of interest A Christmas Carol has been filmed for theatres at least 19 times starting with a short British film in 1901 called Scrooge or Marley's Ghost to most recently - 2009 - with Jim Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge - the most popular one still seems to be the one from 1951 with Alastair Sim as Scrooge. As for television that began in 1944 until most recently a direct to DVD in 2013 - The Smurfs: A Christmas Carol. Even radio was into it beginning on December 19 1923 when the BBC broadcast an adaptation. The most recent one was December 18 2015 starring Kathleen Turner in a live performance. And then there were a number of recordings mostly on vinyl. And even four operas. But when it comes to editions of the actual book well maybe someone can count that high. . First Printing - First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. Illus. by Alan Cober;. 12mo. Harper Perennial Hardcover
