Riprendendo una lunga tradizione, Vallisneri si schiera a sostegno dell'utilizzo dell'italiano anche per le opere scientifiche - ai suoi tempi usualmente stese in latino - in difesa di una comunicazione semplice e comprensibile e dell'opportunità di una coesione degli intellettuali a sostegno della cultura e della lingua italiane. Il curatore prende spunto per porre in evidenza la subalternità intellettuale all'anglofilia di parte del mondo accademico e i rischi, purtroppo reali, che eventuali ratifiche governative di tale sottomissione comporterebbero. Bringing back a long tradition, Vallisneri defends the use of Italian language in scientific works, instead of the Latin of his times, to promote an easier and accessible communication, and the intellectuals' support for Italian culture and language.
