Very clean interior. No foxing. Overall a near fine copy. The very good dustwrapper is faded to the spine with a touch of wear at the spine tips and with totally unnecessary strips of brown paper-based tape to the verso along the top and bottom edges. "Affairs of Destiny" is one of the scarcest wartime Simenon first editions the dustwrapper of which was made from very poor quality paper hence why it never turns up in really fine condition. First UK Edition in dustwrapper priced 9s 6d net to the inside flap. pp 265. Publisher's red cloth with black titles to spine. Boards bright and clean and un-faded apart from a slither of fading/bruising at the spine ends matching wear in the dustwrapper and faint offsetting to the end-papers. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. Clean interior. Overall a VG copy in a very good dustwrapper with the brown block and author's name faded to a dark olive green. There is minor loss to the spine tips and a couple of short edge tears and associated creases to the top edge. There is also a tiny concertina tear to the middle of the spine and a tiny hole also to the spine. Great cover art by 'MB'. Prints the novellas 'Chit of a Girl' La Marie du Port and 'Justice'. In 1950 Ka Marie du Port was adapted into a French film of the same name directed by Marcel Carne and starring Jean Gabin Blanchette Brunoy and Nicole Courcel.
