ill., br. I Shunga ritraggono l'attività erotica di una coppia tra piacere e dolore, e la bellezza dei loro corpi con la più raffinata xilografia giapponese. La tecnica impiegata si chiama ukiyo-e ed era particolarmente diffusa nel periodo Edo (XVII-XIX secolo). Quasi tutti gli esponenti dell'ukiyo-e si cimentarono nei Shunga a un certo punto della loro carriera. Questa summa presenta varie opere shunga di artisti quali Hokusai, Utamaro, Kuniyoshi, Kiyonaga ed Eisen. Il tocco magico di Kazuya Takaoka, art director del precedente Hokusai Manga, sa mettere in valore il grafismo sublime di questo corpus.

Parenti,167: "Il volume fu stampato a Parigi dal Molini nel 1790" - Gamba,1674: "La stampa di questo licenzioso componimento, scritto nell'autunno del 1534, ed impresso senz'approvazione dell'A., gli fu di spiacevoli conseguenze ma ad un tempo base di letteraria riputazione" - Diz. Autori Bompiani,III, p. 642: ""Il vendemmiatore" è animato da un carnascialesco gusto del 'carpe diem', non alieno da spunti scabrosamente audaci. Ebbe molto successo ma fu incluso dalla Chiesa nell'indice dei libri proibiti nel 1559". Anche la "Priapea", uscita a Torino nel 1541, considerata scandalosa e immorale, venne sequestrata e distrutta negli anni 1558-59. Esempl. con barbe, in carta azzurrina, ben conservato.
