Little Bo-Peep and Other Mother Goose Rhymes
Racine Wisconsin: Whitman Publishing Co 1930. Paperback. Very Good . 16 p.: illustrations; 11 cm. Yellow wrapper; front wrapper has white title and color illustration of Little Bo-Peep. Small number stamped in upper left-hand corner of front wrapper: 547. No publication information. In 1934 Whitman issued a 6-volume boxed set called Wee Little Books one of which was Little Bo-Peep and Other Mother Goose Rhymes. Contents: Little Bo-Peep -- Up Hill Spare Me -- Early to Bed -- Little Girl -- Queen Anne -- One Misty Moisty Morning -- Little Betty Blue -- One Two Buckle My Shoe -- A Diller a Dollar -- A Little Cock Sparrow Sat on a Tree -- Ride a Cock-horse -- Jack Sprat's Pig -- Pussy-Cat and the Dumplings -- The Lion and the Unicorn -- As I was going up Primrose Hill -- Bessy Bell and Mary Gray -- A Man of Words and Not of Deeds -- Snail Snail -- See See -- The Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. Unlike the cover illustration of Bo-Peep as a girl in classic shepherdess costume the in-text illustration of Bo-Peep shows a young woman in circa 1920 clothing. In Very Good Condition: edges lightly rubbed; upper corner of back wrapper lightly creased. A clean and bright copy of this very scarce and nicely illustrated collection of Mother Goose rhymes.
