‎Violent pamphlet anti-Bourbon en vers, autographe et inédit, sous forme de dialogue entre l'auteur et Mathilde Bonaparte signé et daté du 7 juin 1854. L'auteur accuse Mathilde Bonaparte, qui vient de donner son patronage en présence de L'abbé Moret et de monseigneur Sibour à un ouvroir de jeunes filles dit « asile Mathilde », de n'avoir fait « en ouvrant un asile à ces jeunes Ultra » que former « un dangereux essaims de serpens » dont la « pensée obstinement aspire à la destruction de notre jeune empire ». Et de continuer « qu'ils sont tous ennemis nés de toute dynastie qui de Robert-le-fort n'est pas, tout droit, sortie, et machinent sans cesse, avec un zèle ardent, un retour d'Henri-quint leur digne Prétendant. » Il finit par « Que dira l'empereur ? » Il est fait référence ici à l'oeuvre de Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs, créée pour secourir des jeunes filles nées ou domiciliées dans le département de la Seine. Fondée en 1853 par l'abbé Moret, curé de Saint-Philippe du Roule, la paroisse de Mathilde fut placée sous le patronage de la princesse en 1854. Auguste Barthélemy (1796-1867), est un poète satirique français. Après avoir acquis une certaine réputation locale comme poète, Barthélemy gagna Paris. Il produisit alors plusieurs oeuvres en collaboration avec Joseph Méry dont le succès fut immédiat. En 1829, Barthélemy fut emprisonné pour la publication de leur Fils de l'homme, puis fut libéré lors de la révolution de Juillet 1830. De mars 1831 à avril 1832, ils publièrent une série de satires en vers dans l'hebdomadaire La Némésis, où ils attaquaient le gouvernement de Louis-Philippe. En 1832, il publia un poème anonyme soutenant certains actes du gouvernement dirigés contre la faction libérale du parti orléaniste. Ce changement d'allégeance mit fin à son influence et ses écrits ultérieurs passèrent inaperçus. Pendant quelques années, il bénéficia d'une pension convenable du gouvernement et s'abstint d'écrire des satires. Il reprit son ancienne manière en 1844, mais sans renouer avec le succès.‎

Single 8.5x11 inch sheet printed one side with handbill announcing an organizing meeting sign-up on rear but with a 3.5x8.5 inch header pasted to top of sign-up on rear to appropriate the sign-up sheet for a NOW boycott of Coors! --wrinkles and toning otherwise good. Nice example of appropriation of materials by two different organizations for two different actions. The main original sheet/handbill is from Feb. 1978 and calls for a March 17th Speak-Out against Briggs at the First Unitarian Church Geary at Franklin and an organizational meeting for Monday March 6th at 330 Grove. The sign-up on the back was printed by NOW in 1979 using the original handbill as stock. A correction of the original header was typed-up and pasted on declaring a resolution by NOW to join the Coors Boycott. When the money is not there use whatever is lying about the office!
