New eps. Binding - Nr Fine. Text blocks - VG faint sporadic foxing/D10-D12 has paper loss in margins does not affect text. 2 volumes. 12mo. <br/><br/>Of a Whiggish political bent the Junius' letters attacked many of George III's reign including the monarch himself. The first Junius letter appeared in Woodfall's 'Public Advertiser' in Nov 1768 and they were published periodically through 1772. The original author of the letters has never been satifactorily determined though current scholarship attributes them to Sir Philip Francis denied by Woodfall a clerk in the War Office during the years Junius' letters were appearing in the 'Public Advertiser.' Per Lowndes 'A copy of this edition with MS notes and corrections by Sir Philip Francis sold at the sale of Sir Philip Francis's library at Evans's in 1838 for 12£ 12s and was bought in the name of Armstrong for Mr H. Dampstain to upper right from around page 500 on a few scattered dampstains modest foxing - generally a clean copy. 96 854 2 pp. Brunet III 1302. Magnus's history of Sweden and the North was enormously successful and popular and was translated early on into Italian German English and Dutch. Lacking the title and preliminaries - the 1663 edition was the same as the 1659 but with the title and preliminaries canceled likely this was a leftover that was canceled but not bound up with the new title page the 1663 had no preliminaries. Scattered minor foxing minor old marks short notes underlines and soiling small burn mark in one margin and a tiny hole at the upper right of page 1 trimmed a little close in spots but not obscuring any text. 311 26pp. Size: Octavo 8vo. Original pamphlet browned and worn at the edges first three and final two pages trimmed at the lower right just touching the gloss on the second to last page but no other text; otherwise intact. 4271pp written by Edward Sexby under the pseudonym William Allen and often attributed to Colonel Titus. At one time a parliamentarian and involved in the capture of Charles in 1647 he later became disaffected with Cromwell and wrote the pamphlet Killing No Murder in 1657 arguing that the murder of a tyrant was no murder. He was captured in 1657 on a return visit to England to instigate a rebellion was interrogated by Cromwell and imprisoned in the tower of London where he died the next year 1658. Size: Octavo 8vo.
