Green blindstamped cloth gilt lettering on spine 12mo 144 pp. Frontis photo of the author and full page photographic plates by the author within the text. Jenks 1894-1991 was from Manchester N.H. and a member of the class of 1915 at Harvard. He enlisted in the army when the U.S. entered World War I and was made a sergeant assigned to the Headquarters Company of General John J. Pershing. Arriving in France in June 1917 headquarters was first established in Paris but in September was moved to Chaumont. Jenks was allowed to travel extensively and presents an important account of civilian life in France during World War I. No marks in book binding tight. One plate detached but present. Covers show light soiling and edge wear. Book condition VG. Uncommon World War I personal narrative. The Four Seas Company hardcover
