‎La timidezza delle rose‎

‎br. Diana è una bella ragazza poco più che ventenne. Tutto per lei sembra scorrere normalmente - amici, amori, studio - fino a quando una lettera sconvolge ogni cosa. La madre, infatti, prima di morire le ha scritto, rivelandole l'esistenza di una sorella gemella, Mary, che il padre, lasciandola, aveva portato via con sé. Inizialmente Diana non ha voglia di cercarla, presa com'è dalla sua vita. Succedono però alcune cose che le fanno cambiare idea: le parole di un misterioso cartomante che la inducono a riflettere sul suo destino (Diana sogna da tempo di diventare scrittrice, ma è avviata a una brillante carriera di avvocato) e il ritrovamento delle lettere spedite da Mary alla madre, lettere che parlano di un «giardino delle rose» a Istanbul e di una certa Zeynep Hanim, che le avrebbe insegnato a capire il linguaggio di questi meravigliosi fiori. La ricerca di Mary si rivelerà per Diana qualcosa di molto più profondo: un viaggio alla scoperta di sé e dei sogni accantonati. Perché tutto può accadere, persino udire la voce delle rose.‎

‎br. "Amore" racconta la storia di Vibeke e Jon che sono madre e figlio, appena arrivati in un paesino dell'estremo nord. È il giorno prima del compleanno di Jon e un luna park è arrivato in città, Jon esce per vendere i biglietti della lotteria e Vibeke va in biblioteca. Da lì seguiamo i due attraversare una serata e una notte di gelido inverno, mentre una crescente irrequietudine si fa strada. "Amore" dimostra come attraverso il linguaggio ognuno di noi costruisce la propria verità, e come madre e figlio possano vivere ciascuno nel proprio mondo. C'è distanza, non solo tra le persone, ma anche tra ogni persona e sé stessa.‎

A good example of the pre-Nuremberg debates in the US and elsewhere about how to deal with nazi war crimes. <br> Booklet includes a brief timeline of concentration camps in Germany from their beginnings in 1933 until the beginning of the war in 1939 based on period reports. <br> William Ernest Hocking 1873-1966 was an American idealist philosopher at Harvard University. He continued the work of his philosophical teacher Josiah Royce the founder of American idealism in revising idealism to integrate and fit into empiricism naturalism and pragmatism. He said that metaphysics has to make inductions from experience: "That which does not work is not true." His 22 books included works on philosophy and human rights freedom of the press and human nature. <br> Here he argues that we owe something to those Germans who fought against the inevitable until a million and a quarter had been in the Nazi concentration camps 15 per cent of whom were Jews and 85 per cent non-Jews while we of the Western powers smiled on and appeased their prosecutors. <br> The American Association for a Democratic Germany included among its officers: Reinhoild Nieburh and Dorothy Thompson as Vice-Chairmen and William Ernest Hocking Charles LaFollette Kenesaw Mountain Landis III and Victor Reuther among the members of the National Committee. <br> From its Statement of Purpose its stated aim was "To Foster the development of genuine democracy in Germany. Only if the common people of Germany get help in establishing democratic ways and educating their children to democratic living can Germany be a healthy peaceful state and can Europe and the world be safe. Democracy is possible in Germany. Seek out the proven democrats.
