Signature: Vol. I aâ¸bcâ¶dâ¸eâ¶fâ¸ghâ¶iâ¸klâ¶m–o⸠Vol. II: Aâ¸B–Eâ¶FGâ¸Hâ¶</p><p>Nice incunable edition by the renowned Strasburg Printer Johann Reinhard Grüninger printed in red and black rubricated in red and blue</p><p>The <i>Liber Sextus Decretalium</i> part of the <i>Corpus Juris Canonici</i> is a collection of regulations of canon law promulgated with the bull <i>Sacrosanctae</i> on 3 March 1298 by Pope Boniface VIII to integrate the <i>Liber Extra</i> the <i>Decretalium</i> by Pope Gregorius IX with the new canonical norms issued by 1234.</p><p>It was initially intended as an appendix to the same <i>Liber Extra</i> by Gregorio IX but it is better considered a real collection by itself divided into five books based on the example already provided by the <i>Quinque compilationes antiquae </i>the anthologies grouping the decretals issued in the period following the issuing of the <i>Decretum Gratiani</i> composed in order by Bernardo Balbi Giovanni di Wales Innocent IV Giovanni Teutonico and Tancredi from Bologna.</p><p> At the end of the work it appears for the first time in a canonical compilation the <i>De Regulis Iuris</i> in imitation of the Digest written by the jurist Dino del Mugello.</p><p>The work is then followed by the fundamental treatise on family by Giovanni De Andrea the <b><i>Super arboribus consanguinitatis et affinitatis.</i></b></p><p>The<i> Constitutiones </i>by Pope Clemens V or <i>Constitutiones Clementinæ</i> not officially known as <i>Liber Septimus</i> but so designated by historians and canonists of the Middle Ages were officially promulgated by Clement V in a consistory held at Monteaux near Carpentras southern France on 21 March 1314 and sent to the University of Orléans and the Sorbonne in Paris.</p><p>The death of Clement V occurring on 20 April of the same year gave rise to certain doubts as to the legal force of the compilation. Consequently John XXII by his Bull <i>Quoniam nulla</i> of 25 October 1317 promulgated it again as obligatory without making any changes in it. Johannes Andreæ compiled its commentary or <i>Glossa Ordinaria</i>. It was not an exclusive collection and did not abrogate the previously existing laws not incorporated in it</p><p>Johannes Grüninger 1455–1533 was a German printer mainly based in Strasburg whose career spanned from 1482–1533 and produced up to 500 publications. Grüninger was one of the single most prolific printers of Strasbourg printing up to 80 books a year. While a great deal of his publications was Catholic he managed to print a great variety of works ranging from humanist to scientific texts. His work was equally representative of both Latin and the vernacular; about 39% of his works were printed in Latin and the remaining 61% in German</p><p>Conditions: Small tear to a1 of first work professionally restored on verso without loss some small wormholes and faint marginal staining original clasps missing binding lightly rubbed a few splits in leather but in general a fine copy internally very clean and perfectly preserved of an interesting and rare edition of a precious collection of two among the most important and well-known legal work of that time.</p><p>Provenance: Heinrich Sedelhammer from Manching Bavaria a student at Ingolstadt University; inscription dated 1553 – Johannes Pfrontner from Füssen a student at Ingolstadt University; partially erased inscription – Georg Hennschberger inscription dated 1623 – Cuno Hernndl inscription dated 1630 – Dingolfing Franciscan Monastery inscription. </p><p>Bibliography: This copy of the <i>Liber sextus Decretalium </i>is the variant with the red printing on leaves 45 and 46; HC 3617 5444; GW 4887 7107; neither work is in BMC; BSB-Ink B-727 C-458; ISTC ib01005000 ic00735000; Goff B-1005 C-735.</p> Johann Reinhard Grüninger hardcover

Deaccessed by the NY Association of the Bar Library with their stamp on the title page.<br /> <br /> An Indian murder tried under British law in which Parsi defendants were accused of murdering another Parsi adherents of Zoroastrianism in Bombay with a rapid and harsh sentence meant to instill fear of British law and punishment in the local people. <br /> <br /> The trial was held at the Supreme Court before the British Chief Justice of Bombay Sir Henry Roper. The all European jury produced a guilty verdict against ten of the eighteen with 8 acquitted. The Chief Justice sentenced 6 of the 10 to transportation for life to Singapore due to a mercy appeal from the jury but sentenced the remaining four to be hanged. <br /> OCLC: 563643483 2 copies British Library. Only edition: a principal early source for the development of the First International (cf. Nettlau). The International Workingmen's Association was founded in London in 1864 by a wide array of European radicals, including English Owenites, French Proudhonists and Blanquists, Irish and Polish nationalists, Italian republicans, and German socialists - including Karl Marx, then an obscure 46-year-old émigré journalist, who would soon come to play a decisive role in the organisation. After the fall of the Paris Commune in 1871, Bakunin became disenchanted with Marx's ideas. The conflict between anarchist and Marxist factions came to a head in 1872, with a final schism between the two wings at the Hague Congress, and the IWA split into two rival "First Internationals" with distinct organisations, one adhering to Marx, the other to Bakunin. It is the latter, "Anarchist" International of St. Imier (Jura, Switzerland) that produced this important apologetic history of the movement immediately after the schism. The roles of Marx and Engels ("l'alter ego de Marx", p. 260) are recounted extensively (albeit critically, as might by expected) throughout the volume, which is divided into four chapters covering the periods of 1865-68, 1868-70, 1870-71 ("La scission") and 1871-73, as is the history of the various IWA congresses. The book concludes with an extensive appendix of "Pièces justificatives", including sources such as the 1868 "Manifeste du parti de la démocratie sociale", "Résolutions du Congrès de Bruxelles", etc., many of which have not been reprinted elsewhere. - Somewhat browned and foxed. Iselin (1728-82) was not converted to the ideas of Quesnay before 1772, and the present work was the first in which his new position was given full expression. According to Iselin, human institutions have corrupted the natural order of things, and in this book he develops a new constitution aiming at to reconcile the republicanism of his Swiss fatherland with the enlightened despotism of Quesnay. Iselin was also the editor of the German economic journal "Ephemeriden der Menschheit", which soon gained a great reputation and counted among its contributors many of the most eminent German economists. - Handwritten inscription, dated 1793, to flyleaves. Only edition of this apparently Catholic anti-Jacobin polemic, dedicated to "the rulers of the earth by the author". - "A curious mixture of early political consulting and police signalment, two hundred pages in length; a small, pocket-sized volume" (cf. H. J. Sandkühler, Enzyklopädie und Emanzipation [1988], p. 142). The anonymous author takes aim not only against the "Jacobin brood of vipers", but also against the Illuminati and the Freemasons, whom he identifies as their ancestors. - Binding a little stained; an inkstain to the lower corner of the first leaves. IV. 1774) sowie eines Briefs des Erzbischofs von Arles, Jean-Joseph de Saint-Jean de Jumilac, an seine Bischöfe (o. D.), jeweils mit Klagen über die Aufhebung des Jesuitenordens durch Papst Clemens XIV. im Jahre 1773. Durchgehend zweispaltig im französisch-deutschen Paralleltext. Am vorderen Innendeckel zeitgenöss. hs. Anmerkung: "Diese zwey Briefe sind eine wichtige Apologie für die Jesuiten. Die zwey genannten Erzbischöfe sprechen sehr freymüthig über die Aufhebungsbulle des Jesuiten-Ordens, und zeigen auf die nachtheiligen Folgen hier, die daraus hervorgehen werden.
