These records name the head of the household and give a count of the other members and information on their annuity. The second chapter is of greater genealogical interest because it is a listing of those persons in the 1870 enumeration and all their known descendants as found living on a special enumeration made on 4 March 1907. This listing gives the name and age of each person in the household with various supplemental information. The third chapter contains a listing of children born after 4 March 1907 and before 1 August 1909. These records give name date of birth parents and some other data. Aggettivi come "stravagante", "eccentrico", ed espressioni come "fuori dai canoni", "sopra le righe" trasmettono solo in parte la vertigine, la passione, la furia con cui Raimondo Lanza Branciforte principe di Trabia, appartenente a una delle più antiche, nobili e facoltose famiglie di Sicilia, ha preso a morsi i suoi trentanove anni (1915-1954): combatte in Spagna, è compromesso con i fascisti ma poi aiuta i partigiani, caccia la tigre, dalla vasca da bagno della sua suite all'Hotel Gallia di Milano compra e vende calciatori; è amico dello scià di Persia e di Tomasi di Lampedusa, di Aristotele Onassis e di Luchino Visconti, di Gianni Agnelli e di Robert Capa; ama Susanna Agnelli, Edda Ciano, Rita Hayworth e infine sposa Olga Villi. A sessant'anni dalla sua tragica fine, è la figlia Raimonda, insieme alla nipote Ottavia, a scavare nel passato di quest'uomo fascinoso e scapestrato: da una vecchia valigia sono emersi appunti, documenti, lettere, fotografie, tutto materiale inedito che ha colmato i vuoti, illuminando di una luce nuova testimonianze e racconti di chi Raimondo lo ha conosciuto. Alla fine, la morte dell'ultimo principe di Trabia e la rovina finanziaria della sua famiglia risultano oscuramente legate al trionfo della mafia in Sicilia e al suo radicarsi nei palazzi del potere.
