‎Important ouvrage sur les découvertes archéologiques de Glozel par l'un des acteur les plus célèbres des fouilles, ardent défenseur de l'authenticité du site et des objets trouvés. Bien complet du tome II publié seulement en 1962. — Glozel est un hameau de quatre maisons dans la commune de Ferrières (Allier), à une vingtaine de kilomètres au sud de Vichy. L’affaire débuta le 1er mars 1924, quand le jeune Émile Fradin et son grand-père, Claude, trouvèrent des briques, des tablettes gravées, deux tranchets, deux petites haches et deux galets portant des inscriptions. Trente-trois témoins, dont M. Augustin Bert, instituteur à Ferrières, et l’abbé Naud, curé-doyen de la paroisse, attestèrent l’authenticité de la trouvaille. La découverte est relatée dans le journal régional et le bulletin de la société savante locale. Et c’est ainsi qu’Antonin Morlet (1882-1965), médecin et archéologue amateur de Vichy, apprend l’existence de Glozel. Intéressé par cette étrange découverte, il se rend sur place et loue le champ afin de faire des fouilles. Nous sommes alors en mai 1925. Dès le début, Morlet trouve d’autres objets dans ce qu’il nomme « le Champ des morts » ; car il partage l’opinion générale selon laquelle il s’agit là d’un cimetière, la cavité étant qualifiée de « tombe ». Il exhume ainsi quantité d’artéfacts en céramique, en pierre et en os, dont certains gravés des mêmes signes mystérieux. Devant l’importance de sa récolte, il décide de publier une première brochure, qu’il cosigne avec Émile Fradin... Désormais les frais d'envoi sont de 6 € seulement pour les livres jusqu'à 1 kg (colissimo suivi), pour la France métropolitaine.‎
