It deals with the pre-Roman societies and their landscapes, which were to be changed by the Romans after the conquests of Caesar and Augustus. The book also explores the concept of frontier and assesses the role of the German provinces as border zones of the Empire.‎

Ranging in date from the late 7th through the 4th century B.C., the sculpture consists of fragments from 132 to as many as 147 statues, from half- to nearly life-size. These are, for the most part, statues of young males, both draped and nude, although females and seated infants appear as well. Several introductory chapters discuss the types represented, the findspots and possible original placement of the sculptures, and the techniques involved in their construction. This volume greatly expands our knowledge of the history of Corinth, broadening our understanding both of cult practices at the site and of the manufacture of terracotta sculpture.‎

‎COMMUNITY IDENTITY AND ARCHAEOLOGY Dynamic Communities at Aphrodisias and Beycesultan‎

‎Book is fine. Very minor shelfwear to DJ else fine. ; Community Identity and Archaeology explores the concept of community identity and its application in archaeology, using the modern Turkish sites of Aphrodisias and Beycesultan as case studies to illustrate the formation and dissolution of communities over time. The concept of the community is vital to the way we understand human societies both past and present, and the last decade has seen widespread interest in communities from both the popular and academic spheres. The concept is also central to archaeology, where the relationship between sites and communities remains controversial. Naoíse Mac Sweeney aims to take the debate one step further, setting out a comprehensive framework for the archaeological investigation of community identity, encompassing theoretical approaches for its conceptualization, practical methodologies for its investigation, and detailed case studies in Anatolia to test and illustrate its arguments. ; 266 pages‎

‎OFFRIR EN GRÈCE ANCIENNE Gestes Et Contextes‎

‎Still wrapped in plastic.

‎DIE RÖMISCHE WÖLFIN / THE LUPA ROMANA Ein Antikes Monument Stürzt Von Seinem Sockel / an Antique Monument Falls from Her Pedestal‎

; Sitzungsberichte Der Wissenschaftlichen Gesellschaft an Der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität Frankfurt Am Main Band XLIX, 1; 161 pages‎

‎THE FIRST WESTERN GREEKS‎

‎Very slight shelfwear to DJ else fine. ; The purpose of this book is to acquaint a wider audience with an archaeological project that could hardly be more revolutionary: the effective discovery and excavation, from 1952 onwards, of the first Greek establishment in the West, Euboean Pithekoussai on the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples. This vast trading settlement is not at all typical of the Western colonial scene. Pithekoussi is very large and very early, and it marks the northern limit of Greek South Italy; furthermore, the earliest immigrants may not all have been Greek. This book about Pithekoussai and its implications is based on Giorgio Buchner's excavations there, which have revealed a variety of component sites so far without parallel in the contemporary Greek homeland. The cemetery, the acropolis dump and suburban industrial quarter each shed light on a different aspect of everyday life at one of the great crossroads of antiquity. ; 0.63 x 8.82 x 5.67 Inches; 200 pages‎
