Signed presentation from Roosevelt also on behalf of his wife on the front endpaper: "Helen and Francis Gray from Belle & Kermit Roosevelt. December 1920." There is also an "autographed edition" of this title which have paper plates signed by Roosevelt tipped-in. Kermit Roosevelt 1889-1943 was an American businessman soldier explorer and writer. The son of President Theodore Roosevelt Kermit was a graduate of Harvard College served in both World Wars and explored two continents with his father. He fought a lifelong battle with depression and committed suicide while serving in the U.S. Army in Alaska during World War II although this information was not made public until years later. "The Happy Hunting Grounds" is a collection of hunting stories some of which recount the expeditions Kermit took with his father. Kermit and his father both went on an African safari in 1909 and in 1914 explored the Amazon River. In 1914 Kermit married Belle Wyatt Willard 1892-1968 daughter of the U.S. Ambassador to Spain. Small 8vo. pictorial brown cloth stamped in stamped in white & orange; 182 pages. Illustrated With Photographs By The Author. Very Good covers nice but with little bumping; contents clean & tight.
