Very clean inside and out, except for a brief inscription of two names and a date: an Italian art historian gave the catalog to a childrens wear designer in America. Text in Italian. Illustrated in color and black & white. The catalog was prepared to accompagny the exhibition at Rocco di Angera in Milan in 1984. The exhibition examined the clothing of both children and their nannies during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Many photographs of the often white lacy clothing that both children and nannies wore. Fine Oriental Carpets and Textiles
This is a very good softcover copy with only light cover wear. Completely clean inside and out. This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Sotheby Parke Bernet in Hong Kong on December 4, 1978. The sale consisted of a large assortment of carpets and textiles, all from China. The sale featured the Mandarin Square collection of Mrs. Clifford D. Martin. One of America's best known collections of Chinese textiles was formed in the early part of the 20th century by Mrs. Clifford D. Martin. A contemporary art critic wrote in the New York Times, (June 5, 1937), that she possessed the finest private collection in New York, if not the entire country. Not long after this article appeared, the collection was cited in the Harvard Journal of Asiatic Studies in 1944. The collection was also exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum in New York in 1945, and published in the University of Pennsylvania Museum Bulletin in 1953. One of Mrs. Martin's primary interests was Mandarin Squares, a selection of about 30 was included in this auction. 143 lots in the complete sale. This is a very good softcover copy in silver moire patterned silk wrappers, with a color plate of a pink parasol at the beach by Jullien, tipped on to the front cover. Generally clean inside and out, some occasional foxing, and a small group of indentation points on a number of the pages in the same place. Text in French. This is the April 1926 issue of this catalog prepared for La Grande Maison de Blanc in Paris on the Place de L'Opera. About 24 pages with sections on lingerie, intimites, ladies fashion and gentleman's fashion. Illustrated throughout with line drawings colored with various pastel shades by Jullien. 2 color plates hors texte, one each by Jullien and Pierre Mourgue. All done in a art deco style. Islamic Carpets from the Collection of Joseph V.McMullan
This is a fine hardcover copy in a near fine dust jacket. The book is completely clean inside and outside, with the dark green cloth covers free of marks, the gilt titles to front cover and spine still very bright. The jacket is just a bit toned at the top edge, with a three short closed tears, otherwise fine. This catalog was prepared to accompany an exhibition by the Arts Council at the Hayward Gallery in London in 1972. Introductory essay by David Sylvester discusses the history of collecting and exhibiting Islamic carpets and textiles in the 19th century and the few serious scholarly efforts to study them systematically. Against this background, Joseph McMullan began around 1930 to collect carpets from the Islamic world. Eventually his collection specialized in "Turkish" carpets. The entries for the 149 carpets in this exhibition are by McMullan and are mostly taken from his earlier work Islamic Carpets, of 1965. Also included is a note on techniques of carpet weaving by May H.Beattie. Area map. Chronological table. Illustrated with 49 full-page color plates. Folio, 12" high X 8" wide, 59 text, note and catalog pages + color plate section. A nice commemoration of an important collection and a beautiful book.

This is essentially a history of Giuseppe Borsalino company, the famous hat-makers from Italy. Fascicle 1. 12 full-page color lithographs of early 20th century ladies fashions. "Printemps & Ete 1905" Spring & Summer wear. With a title-page and 2 plates of hats & hairstyles, the other 10 plates are full length portraits of women in early twentieth century formal gowns and accessories. They are shown against pale gray or brown backgrounds, either in sumptuous interiors or in grand exteriors. The designs were created by "Louis Colas Compositions & Dessins. 74-76 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Paris". This is an oversize thin folio in very good condition, but some slight cover soil, and a bite taken out of the bottom corner of the rear board, with the title in large gilt script on the front cover, with 12 large color lithographs on a nice rag paper, with only occasional finger marks to the margin or front edge. 18" high X 12 1/2" wide.
