In overall good condition (very spotted; miniature triangular stamp just touching image area). - - Beautifully decorative and delicately executed set of lithographs, drawn on stone by the artists father and son van Looy. The prints were pulled by the famous stone-lithographers firm of S. Lankhout & Co., of The Hague, and published in 1881 by Publisher Gouda Quint, of Arnhem. Scarce.‎

Cultural and historical interesting volume. - Spine with tears at the capitals, edges faintly rubbed and binding overall slightly dusty and faded. Interior occasionally a little creased and map with minimal tears, but otherwise still a good copy, internally mostly very well preserved. . - Information und Anleitung zur Jagd- und Safaritouristik in Indien der 50er Jahre. Neben Ausrüstungslisten, Vorstellungen geeigneter Jagdbeute, Gefahren und Vorschriften runden eine Indienkarte sowie mehrere interessante, zwischengeheftete anzeigen (Gewehre, Hotels, Taxidermisten, Photokameras) die Publikation ab. Kulturgeschichtlich interessanter Band. - Rücken mit Einrissen an den Kapitalen, Kanten schwach berieben sowie Einband insgesamt leicht angestaubt und ausgeblichen. Innen gelegentlich ein wenig knickspurig und Karte mit minimalen Einrissen, sonst jedoch noch gutes, innen überwiegend sehr gut erhaltenes Exemplar.‎

‎First appearance of this importent paper in which Arago gives an account of his discovery of how iron and steel could be magnetized by the action of the voltaic current, THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS THE ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. ""Arago .... made several important contributions to electromagnetism on his own. On 20 September 1820 he announced the discovery of the temporary magnetization of soft iron by an electric current, which suggested to Ampère a theory about the nature of magnetic ""currents"" and provided the technological key to the electric telegraph. Ampère calculated that the magnetic power could be multiplied by twisting the current-carrying wire into a helix, and with Arago he carried out the first experiments on primitive solenoids. ‎(No place, no date(1693)). Very large engraved seechart, measuring 60 x 86,5 cm. in original outline colouring. The chart showing the Northern part of England from Lancaster to Banf, of Ireland from Blackrock to Carlingford and all the Islands to the north: Shetland, Orkney, Faroe etc. etc. A fine impression on good thick paper with the watermark: BYCOLUMBIER. Folded down the center.‎

‎The ""Neptune Francois"" was published in 1693, and its charts are larger and more lavishly decorated than those of any preceding book of its kind. The chart is without year, place and ""par Ordre du Roi"", pointing to a later impression, but issued from the original copperplate. It is also without ""Imprimerie Royale"" belonging to the imprints from 1792. Koeman IV,425:9.‎
