"FÊTES" est une suite de 7 gravures à l'aquatinte avec estampages et reliefs. Elle a été composée par Calder pour illustrer l'ouvrage de son grand ami Jacques Prévert "FÊTES". Maeght Éditeur, Paris 1971. AQUATINTE ORIGINALE DE CALDER AVEC ESTAMPAGES IMPRIMÉE SUR PAPIER D'AUVERGNE DU MOULIN RICHARD-DE-BAS. LA N° 1 DE LA SÉRIE, TIRÉE À 50 EXEMPLAIRES SEULEMENT sur ce papier (Feuille : 45 x 34,2 cm et sujet : 32 x 23,3 cm). Cette épreuve sur Auvergne, avec double filigrane, n'est pas signée. L'ouvrage a été édité par Aimé Maeght à Paris en 1971. Il a été tiré XX + 20 exemplaires de luxe sur Auvergne et 100 ex. sur vélin d'Arches. —— Note historique et technique : Pour chacune des sept gravures, Calder a tout d'abord fait un dessin précis en couleur. Puis il a découpé les formes ainsi dessinées dans une plaque de métal. Ces formes ont ensuite été déposées sur la presse ouverte, conformément au dessin original. Les couleurs, volontairement éclatantes, ont été appliquées à la brosse, le papier était posé par dessus, et l'ensemble passé à la presse. FÊTES est une suite de 7 gravures à l'aquatinte avec estampages et reliefs. Maeght Éditeur, Paris 1971. LA PLANCHE N° 7 DE LA SÉRIE, IMPRIMÉE SUR VÉLIN D'ARCHES À 175 EXEMPLAIRES (150 + 25 hors-commerce). Le tirage sur vélin d'Arches n'est pas signé. (Feuille : 45 x 34,2 cm et sujet : 32 x 23,3 cm). Puis il a découpé les formes ainsi dessinées dans une plaque de métal. Ces formes ont ensuite été déposées sur la presse ouverte, conformément au dessin original. Les couleurs, volontairement éclatantes, ont été appliquées à la brosse, le papier était posé par dessus, et l'ensemble passé à la presse. Cette technique de gravure inédite a donné une subtile empreinte en relief dans le papier de chaque planche. Then he cut the shapes thus drawn out of a metal plate. These shapes were then placed on the open press, in accordance with the original design. The colors, deliberately bright, were applied with a brush, the paper was placed on top, and the whole thing was put through the press. This unique engraving technique gave a subtle relief imprint in the paper of each plate.
