Folio conjoined leaves measuring approximately 455mm by 320mm very minor breaks at fold minor soiling matted but not glazed or framed. <br/><br/>LIBER CHRONICARUM is the most famous travel book of the 15th century and the most exhaustively illustrated book of the incunable era. The complete work contains 1809 woodcuts of which only 29 are double-page town views:: these conjoined leaves is one of those 29 town views specifically "Colonia" i.e. Cologne Germany. The verso of leaf XCI is a half-page view of "Augusta" i.e. Augsburg Germany with descriptive text. Also smaller portraits of historical personages including Cleopatra Alexander the Great Herodias L. Pomponius Leoneus and M. Agrippa. et alios Notes: this is from the Latin edition. The German-language edition DAS BUCH DER CHRONIKEN has different woodblock portraits for Pomponius Leoneus and Agrippa. Image measures approx. 15.5 inches by 21.25 inches; unframed but mounted on fiberboard dark "tidal stain" at lower left margin maskable with matting. <br/><br/>Perhaps the most vivid illustrations created of 1860 Chicago were published by Jevne and Almini in France. Raoul Varin of Paris France re-created the original paintings in the mid-1920s. "The differences between Mr. Varin's paintings and the original prints were subtle. He engraved a variety of signed limited edition numbered prints . in the 1920s and 1930s. They were published by A Ackermann & Son . His views took a historical perspective . often based on extant classical works." Only 100 signed prints of the finished work were published. This is apparently a Proof State of the print and thus unnumbered but it is signed by Varin in pencil in the lower right corner. . A. Ackermann & Son Inc unknown

VANDEN AVELE 2 signed and JAN LUYKENone signedone with 2-inch tear repaired some minor marginal wear. Original marbled wrappers old paper cover label; cloth folding case. VERY RARE print series illustrating the history of the ascension to the throne of WILLIAM III 1650-1702 and MARY II 1662-1694. The series begins with the Seven Bishops being brought to the Tower of London with a view up the Thames followed by the birth of the Prince of Wales on 10 June 1688 through the entrance of William and Mary into The Hague on 5 February 1691. The series contains several scenes devoted to the festivities surrounding their coronation in London on 11 April 1689. This set of the engravings correspond to Landwehr and appear to have been issued in its original binding without the text; the title-page may have been removed or was not included. Raoul Varin of Paris France re-created the original paintings in the mid-1920s. The differences between Mr. Varin's paintings and the original prints were subtle. He engraved a variety of signed limited edition numbered prints . in the 1920s and 1930s. They were published by A Ackermann & Son . His views took a historical perspective . often based on extant classical works - Chicagology.com". Only 100 signed prints of the finished work were published. Most are silver prints plus a platinum a large image of breaking waves and a cyanotype; average size about 4 x 2.75 inches with some a bit smaller or larger. Backstrip torn; a few leaves detached. Taken by or related to an artist who appears to have specialized in architectural ornamentation. Includes snapshots depicting figures and buildings from different vantage points views of the studio including a close-up of drawings pinned to the wall a besmocked artist in front of an easel scenes of family a besmocked artist in front of an easel.
