‎Paris: Cinedis 1957. Collection of 150 vintage black-and-white keybook contact sheet photographs and 8 loose photographs for the 1957 French-Italian film. The film is represented in test shots set design shots and many candid moments from the set including dramatic high-contrast images of starring actors Bardot amply represented in the collection and seen in nearly every image off-camera with the cast and crew spinning records on a portable player and traveling by plane and train. <br/><br/>Most keybook photos with 12 images per sheet and a few have been trimmed to only a few images per sheet amounting to over 1700 images captured. Nearly all images with series number bordering the image but unlike similar examples from France all sheets lack credits for the photo laboratory film studio film title and often the photographer. A few with cropping annotations in holograph pencil on the image a few with brief annotations on the verso in holograph ink and two loose photographs with ditto-style mimeo snipes on the verso crediting original title Boyer Vidal Bardot and Boisrond. Housed in a blue paper 2-ring binder with French title mounted on the front with cello tape. <br/><br/>Boisrond's fourth directorial credit is a comedy starring Bardot as the flirtatious daughter of the prime minister of France who marries a member of the cabinet Vidal who happens to be a womanizer. Taking control of the situation she has an weekend affair with a prince Boyer and ultimately reunites with her husband after somewhat passive apologies. <br/><br/>Most keybook contact sheets and 3 loose photos 7 x 9.25 inches binder slightly larger and 5 loose photos 5 x 7 inches. Dramatic high-contrast images of starring actors Demongeot answering telephones and in heated embraces with several sheets capturing a formal dinner with the cast and crew presumably the film's premiere. Most with 12 images per sheet a few with 6-frame strips of 35mm film each image with a series number and all sheets credit at the top the photo laboratory Tele-Photo film studio Cinedis film title and photographer Apoteker. Housed in a red paper 2-ring binder with French titles printed on the front. Several with brief numerical annotations on the verso. <br/><br/>Noirish crime thriller based on Michel Lebrun's novel "Un Silence de Mort" 1957 starring Demongeot as Sylvie married to Jean Ronet an executive at a fashion magazine. Jean's boss André Servais obsesses over Sylvie whose demure femininity can be fatal. An early film credit for still photographer Paul Apoteker whose "Too Late for Love" 1959 is regarded as his first credited film. His dramatic execution would later be seen in Clouzot's "The Truth" 1960 Sautet's romance noir "Classe Tous Risques" 1960 and Woody Allen's "Love and Death" 1975. Numerical annotations in holograph pencil on the versos five with Contino's rubberstamp and two are dupes made by the original developer. <br/><br/>Based on an original screenplay about the 1958 Merlin Law making brothels illegal in Italy. Adua Signoret and her three friends are prostitutes whose brothel in Rome is shut down. Adua convinces them to pool their savings to open a restaurant to generate a living instead of returning to prostitution. Their permit is rejected because of their lurid history but a former client agrees to buy the building and hire them to run a brothel fronting as a restaurant charging them rent. The restaurant is ironically successful and Adua even romances Piero Mastroianni but her landlord's excessive rent finally vanquishes her hopes for a brighter future. She holds her ground against the man but no moral deed is without consequences in the underworld and she is last seen as her destitute former self. <br/><br/>Petrangeli also directed "She Wolf" 1953 Visconti's "Ossessione" 1943 assistant director and screenwriter and Rossellini's "Europe '51" 1952 second assistant director; he was a prolific filmmaker in the Commedia all'italiana and died while shooting his last film "How When and with Whom" 1969. <br/><br/>7 x 9.5 inches some slightly smaller. ‎Tokyo: Toei Animation 1968. Vintage post-production script for the animated 1968 Japanese film "Horus: Prince of the Sun" also known under the title "The Little Norse Prince." This listing also includes a pamphlet of character designs for the film. <br/><br/>A milestone in the history of Japanese animation heralded as the first animated feature to successfully disrupt the Walt Disney paradigm and seen as one of the first to intentionally address an adult audience. Isao Takahata's directorial debut and the first major film of famed Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki who worked on scene design and key animation for the film. Ostensibly a film about young boy living in ancient Scandinavia who must help instill a community to fight against a great oppressor it carried a strong pro-union and pro-Socialist subtext as Takahata and Miyazaki were staunch union organizers. Studio Toei executives in part in retaliation released the film into theaters for only ten days and it would be some years before the feature would be appreciated fully. <br/><br/>Off white wrappers perfect bound with black titles. He does but he also cavorts a little with the models Fabian and his wife Delair discovers his infidelity. A James Bond spoof in the wake of Belmondo's swashbuckling success "Cartouche" 1962 opposite Claudia Cardinale with puzzle solving murder in Brasilia art thieves and a pursuit to find sacred Amazon treasure. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Writing Story and Screenplay: Written Directly for the Screen 1965 and winner of a New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Foreign Language Film 1964. <br/><br/>Members of the cast and crew are featured throughout the collection including director de Brocca who earlier worked under directors Claude Chabrol and François Truffaut Belmondo cameramen and an extensive look at the scenery of Brazil and Paris. A clever and excessively rare bit of advertisement designed as a "Wanted" poster pulling together the main character from Frank Norris' novel John "Doc" McTeague a photo of "McTeague" Gibson Gowland and mention of a specific screening at San Francisco's Imperial Theatre on Market Street today the Market Street Cinema. <br/><br/>The first cut of Stroheim's "Greed" was a mammoth 9.5-hour presentation. All that survives today is a restored slightly choppy but coherent 240-minute version supplanted with still photographs that conveys to the viewer the unimaginable grandeur of the original. Very little paper advertisement has survived. The only poster that has ever surfaced is a disappointing window card showing none of the characters and this remarkable broadside the only example we have ever encountered. <br/><br/>13 x 6 inches. Working copy belonging to Omura Senkichi who played a small role as a traveling servant in the film with his name on the front wrapper and his annotations throughout. <br/><br/>Though not credited as such based thematically on Dashiell Hammett's 1929 novel "Red Harvest" and subsequently the basis for many other films including "A Fistful of Dollars" Sergio Leone 1964 "Django" Sergio Corbucci 1966 and "Last Man Standing" Walter Hill 1996. Included is a first draft third draft and five undated drafts one of which appears under the working title "Carlotta: A Haunted Lady." Two scripts with holograph annotations present. From the estate of Frank De Felitta. <br/><br/>De Felitta was a screenwriter and novelist best known for his 1975 occult horror novel Audrey Rose which he also adapted into the screenplay for the 1977 film directed by Robert Wise and starring Marsha Mason and Anthony Hopkins.<br/><br/>Based on the 1978 novel by De Felitta about a real case of an alleged haunting in which a woman claimed the ghosts of three men were sexually assaulting her. De Felitta was present during the initial investigation by two parapsychologists one of whom also who served as a technical advisor on the film.
