When beginning production on his first non-vampire film "La Rose de Fer" 1973 he found himself in need of funding and began making adult sex films which he continued to direct under a variety of pseudonyms through the mid-1980s.<br/><br/>5 x 7 inches. This unique film studio screenplay archive consists of THREE original screenplays. 1. A "First Revised Draft" dated January 3rd 1946 the screenwriter's original carbon copy typescript unannotated consisting of 94pp of onion-skin paper. Brad-bound in original drab brown Universal Studios covers which are a little brittle and chipped else Very Good bearing the stamped production number 7337. 2. Complete 78pp brad-bound shooting script consisting of a mix of original ribbon-copy typescript and studio-mimeographed white pages dated January 16th 1946 with production number 7337 stamped on the cover. This remarkable writer's draft contains extensive author-revised annotations emendations revisions and additions throughout. This is accomplished via a cut-and-paste the insertion of additional leaves and new dialogue and description scrawled on the versos an exceptional artifact which boldly captures the revision process of this last entry in the Sherlock Holmes' Universal Studios film series. The front cover has been neatly reinforced with tape and bears the original penciled filing notation indicating that this particular script is the copy from which the final draft was produced. 3. Dated April 25th 1946 the complete original studio-mimeographed self-wrapper final post-production dialogue continuity script bound with two brads at the top. In Very Good condition. The title DRESSED TO KILL refers to the film's wily femme fatale Hilda Courtney played by Patricia Morison an homage to Irene Adler from "A Scandal In Bohemia" complete with a familiar misdirection trick which Hilda uses to fool Watson into revealing a hidden location. The plot is an amalgam of several Holmes stories but also draws from other plots in the Universal Sherlock film canon: a convicted thief in Dartmoor Prison hides stolen Bank of England printing plates inside three music boxes -- leading to the murder or attempted murder of their owners using the central device of a secret code which of course only Holmes can brilliantly break. Starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce in their final film together DRESSED TO KILL opened on June 7th 1946 to excellent reviews but also to rumors that it was to be the last of the Universal Sherlock films; by October of that year Producer Roy William Neill truly the visionary of the film series died and that signaled the end of one of the most successful franchises in Universal Studios history. Berlin: Nero-Film A. G. 1931. Original vintage German publicity photo of PETER LORRE in the legendary film classic "M" directed by Fritz Lang. Berlin: Nero-Film A. G. 1931. This stunning image shows Lorre as the murderer confronted by the blind balloon seller who recognizes his distinctive whistle thus setting Lorre's capture in motion. Exceedingly rare photo recently found in an old untouched US archive having originated as an oversized German negative which was re-purposed for use in Denmark as evidenced by the Danish Film Censor's mark "statens" at the bottom which is baked into the negative and then presumably arrived here as a collector's rarity . Glossy single-weight roughly 8" x 10" gelatin silver print. It shows overall wear from handling and it has many faint creases plus stains on reversewhich do not bleed through to the front yet retains eye appeal. "M" remains one of the most famous films of world cinema. It provided the initial blueprint for the entire genre now labeled psychological thriller. "M" original posters sell from $15000 to $50000. Nichols' ownership name is also in holograph pencil at the top right corner.<br/><br/>Renoir's second American feature an antifascist propaganda film following a meek schoolteacher in a German-occupied European country who is falsely accused of murder and forced to take a stand against the Nazis and their collaborators. <br/><br/>At the peak of his career Nichols worked with many key Golden Age directors including John Ford George Cukor Howard Hawks Fritz Lang and of course Jean Renoir. He was a founding member of the Screen Writers Guild and is best remembered for "The Informer" 1935 for which Nichols won an Academy Award "Bringing Up Baby" 1938 "Stagecoach" 1939 "For Whom the Bell Tolls" 1943 "Scarlet Street" 1945 "And Then There Were None" 1945 "The Bells of St. Mary's" 1945 and "The Tin Star" 1957. Copy belonging to unknown crew member with a few holograph pencil and ink annotations to the front wrapper and leaves.<br/><br/>Screenwriter Gerry Anderson's early attempt at an intergalactic police procedural one that would would eventually become the British sci-fi series "Space Precinct" which was broadcast on October 3 1994 on Sky One. The pilot carries many similarities to the show that would eventually air-a hardboiled New York cop is transferred to the eponymous "space precinct" in Demeter City on the planet Altor in 2040-although the pilot features far fewer human characters with a greater reliance on Anderson's trademark blend of live action prosthetics puppetry a process Anderson called "Supermarionation."<br/><br/>Red titled wrappers. Copied annotations throughout noting or revising scene numbers. <br/><br/>Created by the makers of the MTV sketch comedy series "The Idiot Box" 1990-1991.<br/><br/>Originally intended as a low budget horror film featuring the experimental rock band Butthole Surfers which director and screenwriter Alex Winter co-star of the "Bill and Ted" film series worked with previously in the 1988 short film "Bar-B-Que Movie." The concept transformed into as Winter described it "'Beach Blanket Bingo' meets 'The Evil Dead." Joe Roth head of 20th Century Fox loved the idea and green-lit the project. Unfortunately Roth was fired during filming and the new studio head Peter Chernin hated it severely slashing the budget. After poor test screenings it was pulled from nationwide release and only opened to two theaters in the US. Revived on VHS then DVD and Blu-Ray it has since been recognized as the cult favorite it was made to be.<br/><br/>Spoiled actor Ricky Coogin Winter best friend Earnie Michael Stoyanov and pretty girl activist Julie Megan Ward find themselves trapped at Freek Land a freak show run by mad scientist Elijah C. Housed in an original Cinedis manila envelope with French film title in holograph pencil on the front.<br/><br/>In an imaginary village on the border between Italy and France a French customs agent Fernandel watches every move of an Italian smuggler Toto who eventually discovers that the agent is Italian not French. Faldini did not appear in this film but collaborated with Toto on eight earlier films including "Toto and the Women" 1952 and "Dov'e la liberta." 1954. <br/><br/>Shot on location in Italy. Featured are images of the caste and crew on the fishing boat seen in the film including director Christian-Jaque and cast family members. All crediting photographer "le grand" on the recto housed in an original French Kodak paper envelope with annotations on the front of the envelope in holograph ink. <br/><br/>A poignant postwar imagining of collaborating countries beliefs and religions about twelve fishermen out on the North Sea. Most of them eat spoiled ham and food poisoning incapacitates all but one a Muslim who abstains from eating pork.
