‎Two Against Tomorrow The Big Parade of 1942 No Time for Tears 12 Stolen Hours Lover Come Back Original treatment screenplay for an unproduced film‎

‎Los Angeles: Selznick International 1942. Second Draft treatment script for an unproduced film "Two Against Tomorrow" with alternate titles "The Big Parade of 1942" "No Time for Tears" "12 Stolen Hours" and "Lover Come Back" also written on the front wrapper. One of a number of original scripts written by noted screenwriter and novelist Viertel for producer David O. Selznick in the early 1940s. We know of one earlier draft of the treatment dated simply "June 1942." This draft has added blue revision pages a distribution page and a date of June 18 1942.

Viertel's script went fairly far into the pre-production process. According to a New York Times article on August 19 1942 MGM purchased the property from Viertel who at the time was in the Marine Corps but more likely it was purchased from Selznick as this script dated June 1942 is clearly noted as a Selznick property. The article goes on to note that the picture was assigned MGM to producer Edgar Selwyn.

A story set in Manila told from the perspective of a woman working at a Filipino rubber factory during the first raids by the Japanese. With alternate titles likely suggested by Viertel proposed on the title page: "The Big Parade of 1942" "No Time for Tears" "12 Stolen Hours" and "Lover Come Back."

Pale blue titled wrappers dated June 18th 1942 with credits for Peter Viertel. With all the elaborate costuming special effects and production costs typical of a Zanuck picture its cinematic qualities do their best to offset what can only be called a very unique take on historical accuracy. ‎Viva Zapata Original screenplay for the 1952 film later reproduction‎

‎Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox 1951. Final script for the 1952 film. Based on the life of Mexican revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata. Xerographically reproduced Fox file copy likely produced by the studio for its files in the late 1960s or a bit later.

Kazan's romanticized semi-fictional account of Zapata in his prime this sweeping early Brando film glorifies the revolutionary's noble intentions and largely overlooks the rest. The culmination of screenwriter Steinbeck's long-standing fascination with Zapata it was said that Steinbeck had begun work on such a screenplay as early as 1948. The subject was a touchy one as the MPAA's Production Code Administration had been discouraging studios from working on such a film and there were prolonged negotiations with the Mexican government about approval over the film's release that culminated in a second cut of the film especially for Mexican distribution. Kazan and Steinbeck both ex-Communists are said to have used this film to metaphorically express how they felt Communism in the Soviet Union had gone off the rails.

The film won Anthony Quinn an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role and it was nominated for four others. It also won Best Actor at Cannes and was nominated for the Grand Prize.

Set in Mexico shot on location in Mexico New Mexico Colorado and Texas.

Pale blue titled wrappers noted as FINAL on the front wrapper dated Feb. 6 1951. Thirty-four college football players from local universities were used as extras in this film. They included USC's Ambrose Schindler Bill Howard Red Morgan Tony Tonelli Ollie Day and Owen Hansen and UCLA's Billy Bob Williams Bill Overlin and Bill Radovich. ‎A Matter of Life and Death Original UK Film Program signed by Michael Powell‎

‎London: The Archers / Eagle-Lion 1946. Original UK Program for the 1946 film released in the US as "Stairway to Heaven." SIGNED by director Michael Powell on page 12 just above the photo next to his biographical sketch.

While it is certainly arguable that the greatest Powell-Pressburger film is a 10-way tie for first place "A Matter of Life and Death" is probably the most philosophically ambitious of their masterpieces. David Niven is a British wartime aviator who unwittingly cheats death and must ultimately argue for his continued existence before a celestial court. In between these two events is a wildly imaginative and surreal tale told first in Technicolor on earth then in Dye-Monochrome black-and-white in heaven.

This oversize program book evokes the spirit of the film beautifully with clever use of two-color processes mostly pink and blue throughout. Includes biographies and large photos of the principal actors reviews an essay about the techniques used to shoot the film and credits for the cast and crew. The credits and promotion are specific to the UK rather than international or US distribution of the film through Eagle-Lion and General Distributors.

Self-wrappers 14.5 x 11.5 inches saddle-stapled.
