Very very extensively annotated throughout in pencil and colored pencil with prompts revisions and camera/production notes. Clean slice into fore-margin of upper wrapper otherwise very good. A "Final Master" of this teleplay by Wald written for the FAVORITE STORY series production 70b and based on a short story "The Substitute" by Francois Coppée. Leslie Goodwins directed Robert Blake and Noah Beery Jr. and Adolphe Menjou introduced the episode as usual. This particular copy was intimately involved in the production of the episode and a manuscript designation on the upper wrapper implies it was used by Larry Lund the script supervisor. Wald had an extended and productive career as a screen and television writer for a number of the best known series of the 1950s and early 1960s. A group of post-production scripts for this key Hitchcock film based on a screenplay by Ben Hecht which was in turn based on Angus MacPhail's adaptation of a novel THE HOUSE OF DR. EDWARDES by Hilary Saunders and John "Francis Beeding" Palmer. Present here are a Cutting Continuity script dated 1 November 1945; a Dialogue Continuity script rerun 31 May 1949; another Cutting Continuity script rerun 10 June 1949 and a Combined 16mm Continuity script 15 May 1961. Ingrid Bergman and Gregory Peck starred and Salvador Dali contributed designs to the dream sequences. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and won one for Miklós Rózsa's musical score. A group of what would appear to be test renderings of design work for the one-sheet for the forthcoming film with notations indicating the designs were "tested" on dates as early as June and July well in advance of the December premiere. Six of the seven designs are composed largely of photographic sources and vary chiefly in the caption texts describing the film and include the design finally adopted. The seventh features entirely different artwork rough draft pencil drawing dated in August and features a somewhat suggestive theme Eugene under the dining room table looking up the skirt of a female character while recovering a dropped napkin.
