A good copy. Sometimes attributed to Robert Sanderson 1587-1663 who would in 1660 become Bishop of Lincoln. Whoever the author this is an interesting contribution to the debate on Sunday activities/recreations/pastimes &c. which had been revived in 1633 by the publication of The Kings Maiesties declaration to his subjects concerning lawfull sports to bee used> which had stated that only people who had first attended divine service were entitled to participate in recreations afterward. And so the Reverend Religious and judicious Divine considers the matter in his third question and largely agrees with the Royal Declaration> of 1633. He suggests that 'The meetest recreations to be used are those which give the best refreshing to the bodie and leave the least impression in the minde. In this respect shooting leaping pitching the barre stoole-ball &c. are rather to be chosen than dicing and carding .'.
